The white building is the memorial span that stetches accross the center of the USS Arizona vessel remnant. The picture below that one is a look inside the white building that lists the Arizona's dead. Its more than just a memorial its also a tomb and the curator will remind you if you don't wisper while there.

Okay thanks - so is there a naval museum there or nearby or is it just the Arizona memorial for a visitor to Hawaii?

There is a museum nearby and a sub to climb through.

One of those names on the wall belongs to a good friend of my father. I never knew what that name was. Those combat veterans are mostly quiet fellows....

Thanks for the pictures.

Nearly half the dead from the Pearl Harbor attack were aboard USS Arizona.

When I was stationed there, they didn't have that submerged model, very interesting. Thanks, Hal

gunny3013 -

First Class pictures (exactly what I would expect from a Gunnery Sergeant of Marines) <grin>.

Love the model, pulls it all together and into perspective.

Semper Fi, Marine.

Mac
