Which aircraft am I?

Quiz one

1. I have a counter in WIF
2. I was an ugly looking aircraft and looked obsolete - but wasn't a complete failure.
3. I scored a couple of notable firsts for my country - the first being particularly unlikely (and the basis of a good quiz question), whereas the second was what I was as designed to do (but still impressive).

Quiz two

1. I have a counter in WIF
2. I was the first of my type but was soon overtaken by better aircraft
3. I was withdrawn from my principle role after September 1944 (but I continued in other roles thereafter)

Quiz three

1. I have a counter in WIF
2. I took part in both the European and Pacific theatres of war and was involved in some high profile encounters
3. My range was one of my most important features

Quiz five

1. I have a counter in WIF
2. I am known better by my nickname than my real name
3. I took part in a very well known engagement in WWII and, like No.1 above, scored a first

No (and yes)
Yes - the G4M Mitsubishi "Betty" which along with the G3M "Nell", took part in the first sinking of a capital ship at sea at the hands of aircraft HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse falling victim to the 22nd(?) Air Flotilla on 10th December 1941.

Okay here's another variation on a theme:

Which Officer am I (none of which have WIF Counters)?

Quiz 1.
1. I served in the Navy

Quiz 2
1. I served in the Army

Quiz 3
1. I served in the Air Force

I could be wrong but isnt a Canso a Catalina, just produced in Montreal/candian name for it?
Technicly tho ill give Danlongman full credit for his answer, the plane that the VC recipients flew in is a Canso as i read it, but i could be wrong.

I'm sorry Rasmus, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I have never seen the word Canso before in my life and strongly suggest you are making it up.

I most likely are!!!

Canadian Catalinas were named Canso by the Royal Canadian Air Force in accordance with contemporary British naming practice of naming seaplanes after coastal port towns, in this case for the town of Canso in Nova Scotia.
