More mop-up action at Canton. Also, I see that an Allied sub has come into the AO. Maybe he wants to get in on some of the action.

My Lilly's are bombing Clark Field at way way too high an altitude. Per Jim's suggestion I had intended to change that to something
more suitable.....say 5K.

Weather says "heavy rain" so I'm surprised that they decided to continue with the raid. Even more surprised that they hit anything.

I'm still a worry to the 22nd Indian Brigade near Kuantan. Jap aircraft can fight even during thunderstorms. Cool.

I moved a ground unit before I was supposed to and left a hole in the lines which Jim took advantage of. I've got some people moving
to contain the damage even as we speak. They should arrive within a week or less.

And as a switch-up Jim is trying an old fashioned bombardment attack instead of a shock attack. It's slow but gets results.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Feb 02, 42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, I am a hypocrite - I just posted in somone else's AAR about blowing off those "little" things that go wrong during a game... Now this SCTF (TF234) is supposedly on top of Canton Is, 1CA, 2CL and 3DD's for the third turn it encounters his ENEMY TF... yet nothing happens! Meanwhile the ENEMY TF (two DD's) of Larry's have sunk 3 AP's, 1AK, and damaged a SS... All while the SCTF has sat near or at Canton Is!!!

Hey you guys.........I made another discovery of this great game. In the city display on the right side you see the supply and fuel limits.
In this example the fuel present at the base Palembang is over the limit so it should have some spoilage. Tracker reports there IS
spoilage at Palembang so I'm guessing that we can use the supply / fuel limits to gauge how much more stuff we can store at each of
the bases. Learn something every day around my house.

Hey everybody.......I have a question. When you're looking at the "all ground units" screen and the location of a unit is listed in red
does that mean that unit is over the stacking limits. So far all the guys I have in red are on islands, Kwajalene, Wake, etc. Anybody
know? Hey Jim.......you're smart what's this mean?

I'm thinking it has something to do with troop capacity since the troop capacity for Kwajalene is in red too.

So far this game I've been concentrating on moving the ships and planes and a few of the AF dudes and some engineers. Now I'm
discovering that I have multiple engineer units as some locations and none at other locations. I'm going to have to take the time to get
properly organized one of these days. I'd be able to give Jim a better game that way. There's just so much to keep track of and
manage that it's overwhelming to think about it. Maybe I should go slow and organize by areas first. Anybody have a better idea ?

Here we see that Miri has dropped below 10K supplies. Does that mean that the organic engineers don't repair anymore? Until and
unless the supplies goes above 10K again? So Mir really needs a lot more than just 10K supplies to keep going really?

Here's a TF just about to land some more Mortars and an AA unit to bother the B-17's that arrive daily. Maybe some of them will
survive the trek across the beach and do some good. Maybe.

Larry, (in most authorative John Facenda imitation voice...)
The Red guys are lines of code written to alert you something is wrong...

Yeah, you can smack me around now!

Really, I think its exactly what your saying, the load cost #'s are close - so the actual overage #'s probably work.

No better idea, just your on the same track as me in my game vs. TommyG.

At the risk of misattributing information, I remember someone writing about the Japanese player, What works best is keeping the HQ's with thier units (for obvious reasons). Then using the supply trail to bases to keep the units in the same general theatre. As my poor example - my 24th Flotilla air units are strung from Sumatra thru to Finschaven. My goal is to tighten it up and get the HQ to a good to superior base of operations where upgrades are possible (lvl 7 A/F) and supply for torpedoes and upgrades are plentiful.

Just my $.02

Larry,

Yes, but what is an organic engineer? a food processor?

AFAIK the second answer is yes also. Third Question? YES! it does. I dropped 80K on Miri in late Dec 41 in game vs TommyG. its now mid February and I'm below 25K supplies after 50 days, but have both Oil and Refinery back over 210 (of 300) I overstocked on Eng units there too. Still only getting one point of repair per day on average. I will need to pull the excess Eng units out soon, so I'll see if it slows the repairs any.

See how "smart" I am? You would do better with a magic 8 ball than me!
All the above 70's references are due to a stupid TV show I'm being forced to watch, please forgive me

Um.....I was trying to refer to the engineers that belong to an INF unit as opposed to those that you can ship in later. I looked over the
situation again and found that there were none. So all the engineers that are there now are those that I shipped in from somewhere
else.

I've got some damaged ships at Tawau that were stood down having their floatation damage fixed so that they would make it to a better
port to be repaired properly ( say Saigon for instance). Now that they have been returned to un-stood-down status ( on line, say ) they
are greyed out for about 3 or 4 days meaning I can't put them in a Task Force yet. But four days from now I'm not going to remember
that I intended them to go to Saigon unless and until I write myself a note and refer to it from now on when I'm assigning TF's at the
beginning of each turn. Anybody have a different way, a better way, of remembering which ships go where? I'm all ears.

Larry,
Sorry for any miscommunication here - I was'nt mocking(?) you - it was just another attempt at my strange brand of humor...
Any time I put three funny faces in a row, I'm not being serious at all... It's common practice around here in emails to bust on each other and to avoid hurting someones feelings needlessly, we add the three funny/laughing faces to indicate we are not serious at all about what we are saying. One funny face generally is we think what is said is funny, two funny faces = ROFLMAO and three don't take me seriously!

In reference to the damaged ships @ Tawau, I'm keeping a notebook for exactly this reason;
2/16/42 "Miri - move ENG units to Singkawing ASAP/ TF 311 coming from H.K."
2/20/42 Miri - TF311 arrived, 3 days to load 56th Eng/133 Eng...

And so on...

Its Sept 21 2012 - I just sent my turn to Larry. I cannot believe the TF-234 after withdrawing from taking on 2 DD's at Canton Is for three consecutive days Resulting in the loss of 3AP, 1AK and over 1000 AV troop loss, The TF (commander)decides they are returning to S.F.!!! I'm turning them around and changed the Threat tolerance to Absolute from High. There are 6 ships in my SCTF 1CA,2CL, & 3DD's running away from 2 IJN DD's. . . sigh. can I shoot the commander for cowardice? Or maybe I'll steal a line from another AAR and make him a mess-kit (or VD) officer in Nome Alaska!
