Bases lost
Japan seizes Dinagat and Loyang today.

Japanese aerial raids
Chungking, Wuchow, Hengyang, Loyang, Mandalay, Clark Field and Darwin are all targeted. Somewhat surprised to find the "non Chinese" AVG reacting to defend at Mandalay as that is a range of 6 from their AF, and a range of 3 from the base they are set to protect.

The skies over Chungking
A bad day for the AVG again as they lose 6 planes and only shoot down 1.

RN CV force
The TF is spotted, and the enemy responds by sending in 100+ AC. The morning attacks was easily repulsed, but the later one was so massive that the result was a given. If we are able to save the CV and CVL it is a miracle.

Well...
If you use your cellphone to take notes from the turn, make sure not to drop the phone in such a manner that the battery drops out, as that kind of turns the cell of, losing your info

Hollandia and Loewoek are invaded.

Bases lost
Hollandia, Boac and Tacloban fall to the Japanese.

Japanese aerial raids
Chungking, Wuchow, Hengyang, Clark Field, Soerebaja, Darwin and Bandoeng are all targeted by raids/sweeps. At Chungking I think the enemy is trying to grind down the AVG units, and at Bandoeng my estimate is that the enemy is trying to slow down the movement of the ABDA forces there.

Orders given (that are of interest)
The AVG units in Chungking are ordered to rest and refit. Since there is not enough of their original type of AC, one is given P39s. Let us hope we can have the frames ready for combat before the Japanese bombers appear.

Chungking, Wuchow, Hengyang, Bandieng and Shwebo are all targeted. At Chungking the enemy sweep find noone to engage.

Orders given
The AVG groups at Chungking are set to 100% CAP again, let us see how that works out.

Enemy troops wade ashore at Tanna and Salajar.

Bases lost
Siargao, Shwebo and Loewoek all fall to Japan today.

Japanese aerial raids, with explanations/guesses as to their purpose
Chungking - 66 Oscars sweep the base, shooting down 3 AVG fighters while losing only one. Seems to be out to desimate the Chinese airforce and burn valuable supply.
Shwebo - Here the enemy use bombers to soften us up before they attack the base.
Hengyang - bombing the ground units, most likely in an attempt to soften them up for an attack.
Wuchow - bombing the ground units, most likely in an attempt to soften them up for an attack.
Darwin - Bombing the airfield, obviously trying to reduce supply in this base that is hard to supply. An overture to an invasion?

Allied air raid
Chinese bombers strike at Hankow, believed to field several Japanese bombers, but only score 1 hit on the runway. This will not be repeated tomorrow since we must expect enemy fighters at the base now.

Still more troops are pouring in at Tanna.

Bases lost
We lose Salajar, Bandoeng and Kalidjati today.

Japanese aerial raids
Chungking, Wuchow, Clark Field and Darwin are all targeted today. The first by sweeps only, the latter ones, by bombers.

Skies over Chungking
The AVG scores 6 kills and lose two of their own today. One of the airmen reach 81 exp, and is sent to TRACOM where we will try to gather as many 80+ aircrews as possible to create an "uber" squadron down the line, along the line of the German WWI flying circuses.

Japanese recon flight of interest
Japanese recons are spotted over Katherine. This strengthen my suspiscion about an attack on Australia.

Orders issued
We send some heavy bombers from Pearl to Pago Pago, and tomorrow they will head for Sydney.

Invasions
Enemy forces land at Langs and Namlea. And then the big one of the month really, if not even the entire game. The enemy invades Darwin itself. No wasting time landing at the base to the "east" to avoid damage to his ships, instead a gung ho attack into the CDs at Darwin. Granted these are not the best CDs, still we set some ships on fire (see below).

Bases lost
Ruteng merely changes sides, but the coup d'etat this turn is a paradrop on Katherine that dislodges our small garrison. Nice move by Japan.

Japanese aerial raids
Clark Field, Wuchow and Darwin are the only bases bombed today.

Baby-KB
Off Darwin aiding the invasion there.

Orders given
The USAAF bombers are sent north to support the fighting in northern Oz. At Pearl we are considering what forces to load on an Amph and use to retake Wake. Should we land the entire Americal Division (3k men over the stacking limit), or try with a regiment with some armor and a combat engineer unit (about 1k over the stacking limit, but less AV). Decisions decisions decisions.
The OZ government allows the defences in the south to be weakened, and send forces to the north, as well as the Perth-sector. The Sydney-Brisbane area is now somewhat vulnerable, so we are basically gambling on that the enemy will not land here. Atleast not yet.

Invasions
TF after TF keeps unloading at Darwin. So far we have counted two infantry divisions, 2 tank regiments, 1 guards mixed brigade, 1 SNLF unit, 1 engineer regiment and 1 medium field artillery regiment ashore. The city is lost for us, but we will try to hold for as long as possible, but then again that was expected.
The enemy also land at Cebu this turn.

Bases lost
Roti, Namlea and Langsa is taken by the Japanese.

Japanese aerial raids
Today only Wuchow and Darwin are targeted.

Baby-KB
Still off Darwin.

Time spent on
We spend some time on going over the list of which unit will and which will not recieve reinforcements.

PP usage
We buy out another US Army division, and we reform two British ground units (1 brigade and 1 base force).

Enemy ships are offloading at Darwin, Cebu, Manokwari and Ambon. At Ambon it sounds and looks like the enemy lost to AKLs to the CDs.

Bases lost
Lifou fall to Japan.

Still off Darwin.

Darwin, Clark Field and Wuchow, nothing new.

Battles
Sian - The enemy has 4700 AV here, and reduced the fortification from 3 to 1, the city will likely fall tomorrow.
Darwin - The enemy has 2:1 in terms of AV, and dropped the fort from 3 to 2, also a lost cause.

Allied shortcommings
Right now there is a lack of APs in the areas where I need them. They are all busy carrying troops from place to place, leaving me nowhere enough ships to form an invasion AMPH TF atm.

Status: offline 		Been a few busy days IRL, so the two next days will only mention the important events as I have to go from memory.

February 17th 1942
Darwin falls. we are now trying to march our forces south to avoid annihilation of the "saved" Dutch base units.

February 18th 1942
Sian falls. A IJN TF of two AMCs try to raid or convoy lines, but stumbles across 8 TKs escorted by 6 DDs. One AMC takes numerous gun hits and two torp hits, and is a gonner for sure, the other AMC also takes alot of gun hits, and is reported to be on fire. Since the battle occured between the WC and PH, I estimate that one too to be a gonner.


Update
Both sides are unhappy with the "land death stars", so we are now talking about using the standard map with stacking limits. If we agree to terms as to how to make the transition, we will change the maps.

Status: offline 		Another buys day irl, so yet another short update.

February 19th 1942
The enemy lands more troops at Cebu as he has realised that the forces he has allready landed are too weak. He also landed some units in the Australian port west of Darwin (forgot name atm sorry). That is about it.

We have decided to change maps, so from now and for a week, no attacks are allowed to occur in the PHI, Burma and China. This includes aerial bombardments, as these will change a unit from move orders back to combat. The reason for this, is that the new map will place a restriction to the number of troops allowed in each hex.

Cease fire
No combat takes place in the PHI, Burma (*), and China this turn, although the Japanese are making the most of their recon AC for sure
(*) only applies to hexes with troops in them. The Japanese are allowed to take non guarded bases.

Invasions
Enemy troops land at Sorong today.

Bases lost
Lashio and Sorong falls.

Japanese aerial raids
Soerebaja is bombed, while Chittagong is sweeped. Since Chittagong is in India, this is within the Cease fire agreement.

Thoughts
It seems to me (or my memory might very well be faulty ) that the Allied AC production is lower in scn1 than in scn2?! Never played scn1 before, and a long time since I started a scn2, so I might very well be wrong however.

The enemy land troops at Ambon and Anantom. Anatom is a dot-base off Noumea, seems the Japanese really wants that dot as they land with two TFs. At Ambon the Dutch garrision has been fending off the Japanese troops allready there for a few weeks, so guess my opponent wants to end the daily bombardment attacks there.

Zamboenga is captured by Japan.

Soerebaja and Ambon are both bombed today.

Off Ambon where she uses her AC to groundstrike.

See below
*edit* was supposed to also show how MY subs chose to attack the DD escort instead of the BB in an enemy TF. Not that it matters as none of the 4 torps actually hit.

Good news
3 of the BBs damaged at PH is now in docks in the WC. 3 remain in docks in PH due to very high engine damage, meaning a speed of some 6 knots, which would make the journey to the WC dangerous.

The enemy lands at Bengkalis, while at Cebu they decide to reinforce their forces there, as they were insufficient to dislodge the PHI troops. The PHI troops holding against the Japanese?!

Tjepoe and Sibolga are taken by Japan.

Japanese aerial raids
Soerebaja and Ambon were both bombed, no serious damage anywhere.

Baby-KB
Still off Ambon, but appears to be moving towards the Japanese Home Islands.

IJN sub warfare
I THINK my opponent is making a wrong move here. I spot submarines off Sydney, San Diego, Los Angeles and Ceylon. Of these, only the ones operating around Ceylon has scored any significant results (placing a Brit BB in the docks for 89 days...). Sydney is no longer used much, as Oz is mainly supplied through Perth at this point, and LA and San Diego are more or less empty in terms of shipping. The only pickings in those bases are ships spawning there. Somewhere between San Fransisco and Pearl would have been a much better place for those subs in my oppinion. But then again, I usually lose these games...

The Japanese keeps landing troops at cebu and Ambon. Ambon finally falls at the 27th, but for some time the garrision here has tied down the following;
1 SNLF
1 Division
2 Naval Guards
Baby-KB
2 BBs, 4 CLs and DDs.

Not too bad, only wish all ABDA troops managed that.

All moves have been finished, and the map upgrade has taken place, that means that from now on the cease fire in the PHi and China is no longer in effect.

A dull day in the Pacific. Some of our RN KVs attack and damage a Japanese sub off Colombo (5 hits reported, which suggests she is aliv ebut damaged), and another IJA submarine scores a torpedo hit on one of our TKs between SF and PH, not alot of damage was inflicted, so the TK should make it.
We allowed some of our CAs and DDs to start upgrading their AA and ASW capabilities at Pearl, but we made sure those upgrades were performed dockside, and not in our precious yards. We still have BBs to repair!
The Japanese do seize Serasan and Sabang today, but that was rather expected, so no big disappointment.

It seems our opponent, Supreme Ruler of Japan, Sebastian, places trust in his Japanese Intel. Since we just started using the map with stacking limits, he wanted to know how many supplies we lost at Clark Field since it was overstacked by 20.000 men. It is not, it has place for some 1.100 more men.
This might be used to our advantage to some extent, so alot of the restricted (not perma) units in SF is starting to plot for bases all over the Pacific, hoping the Japanese will get a hold of this and spread their forces.

Status: offline 		The game is now in the "boring" phase where both sides are simply probing carefully, this combined with an intensive workload IRL dictates that I will only update every now and then for some weeks. For this I apologize.

March 2nd - March 7th 1942
The Japanese are securing the yet unoccupied bases within their perimeter, while advancing slowly in the major theathres.
By the 7th all of Burma is occupied by Japan, and Soerabaja falls on the 7th as well. Clark Field seems like a though nut to crack with the new stacking limits, and the Japanese are doing nothing but bombing and bombarding for the time being.
The same seems to be the situation in China, where the Japanese are still pushing, but at a much slower pace, and they have alot more trouble pushing the Chinese back.

At the 4th the IJN started to land a regiment at Port Blair, the Dutch CD brought there did some damage to the Japanese transports, but nothing major. and on the 7th the RN showed up, and had a run in with an IJN Cruiser force. The battle was inconclusive.

Australia, the Japanese are pursuing units fleeing from Darwin, but are not ashore in strength, so there is no real danger for the rest of Australia.

Have to say that the "normal" scenario is proving to be something different alltogether. I am actually worried about losing AC, and my CVs STILL do not have the F4F equipped...
Nothing major is taking place, the Japanese are seizing empty ABDA bases, and are slwoly kicking the Dutch off Java, as there is nothing there but a skeleton force. At Clark we still hold, and it seems we might for some time still, although supllies are running low.

On a more interesting note, it seems the Japanese are trying something at Suva. I have been expecting this as the base has been sweeped every day. I do not have enough fighters to contest it, so I've allowed it to take place, while our flattops were dispatched from Pearl two turns ago. I had hoped for a few more days before the enemy TFs appeared, as I would have given battle there, but it seems I might be a few days too late. Total Allied AV on the two bases is close to 800.

Some things have happened lately, nothing major, but atleast gives me something to write about.
Oz - The Japanese seems happy to make do with Darwin and the isolated bases to the "west" of Darwin. Fine, let them have it, those bases are a pain to supply anyway with the IJAAF holding supremacy in the area.

DEI - The Japanese are mopping up all over the place, and usually take one base every 2nd day. The scattered defenders of Soerabaja have held back the Japanese attackers for 4 consecutive days just south of the city, something I consider a success since we are talking a ragtag of worn down units against 2 IJA divisions.

Port Blair - The Japanese brought in an entire division and took the island. Again not much to do imo as the Japanese kept bombing the island from Burma, and in Scn 1, I have pretty much everything I need save PPs and ACs...

Cocos Island - The Japanese land, attack and die as flies. The landed unit is wiped out by our defenders.

Suva - The island is isolated by strong IJN presence, and the Japanese have landed on the island to the south in an attempt to isolate Suva. I need KB do move away from the area, then I can land in enough troops to retake that island, but not in front of KB. I do have 4 USN CVs close by, but due to the severe shortage of ACs in Scn 1, they are still flying outdated ACs. I really do not want to go head to head with KB right now...

China - a total mess, and I am now hoping to be able to hold the Chungking area towards the end. Right now it is clear that the north is gone, it is all a matter of time. To make matters worse, the IJA is attacking out of Burma now as well.

India/Burma - all of Burma is in Japanese hands, but as the IJA is attacking China from Burma, I am contemplating advancing back into Burma as soon as I have some of the sub-units combined with their parents to make proper divisions.

Suva has become the major fighting point in the Pacific. Unfortunately with the replacement rates of Airframes in Scn 1, I simply cannot fight a war of attrition at this point. True, I have some P40Es in the pool, but that is pretty much it (well, also some 50 B17s and Dauntless-3s). However I am forced to send my flattops in to give CAP to an amphibious TF aimed at one of the islands between Suva and Pago Pago (tired atm so I do not recall the name of the island I targeted 3 mins ago...).

In Oz the IJA seems contend, and is not advancing anywhere. For now I am happy to let them have Darwin and the surrounding bases, as that is a secondary area for the time being (too hard for me to supply with the area surrounding it being in Japanese hands).

At Changsha the IJA tried a deliberate attack last turn, this turn they did not even bombard, they did however fly some 250 bombers to the city. Guess the 15k-ish casualties taken last turn taught them a lesson about urban warfare .

I am also guessing that the Dutch "troops" SW of Soerebaja is causing some grief to Sebastian at this time. The IJA keeps attacking time and again, but they end at 1:2 every time. Although the surrender of the Dutch forces is but a matter of time.

Ceylon. The IJN has subs in the area, and I fear they also have a strong surface TF in the Indian Ocean as we spotted a TF with 2 BBs and a handful of cruisers last turn around Port Blair. But I am more annoyed with their subs atm. They scored a hit on a Brit CV, and the repair time ment the ship would be back in action 1 day before its withdrawal date, so I withdrew her instead.

India/Burma. The Japanese seems to have halted at the border, so I ordered 1 Indian and 1 Australian Division to make a casual advance. For now I lack the PPs to buy out another Indian Division as I just had to spend aprox 300 PPs on bomber squadrons located in the West Coast so I could ship them to Pearl Harbour.

The Aleutians. I am currently building up Dutch Harbour, and will start leapfrogging from base to base up here when DH is built up to its max. The Japanese have not made any attacks up here.

Airframes. My biggest headache. The production numbers are just so low right now. Apart from the P40Es there is not much to write home about in our pools, and I am using alot of skeleton squadrons for training right now. I just lost 5 LB-30s over Noumea, this was not unexpected, as the LB-30 seems to fare far worse than the B24s for some reason. Granted, at Noumea they were vastly outnumbered as well, AND the weather left alot to be desired, but I have seen B24s make more kills in A2A than they lose themselves in similar conditions.

KB/Baby-KB. It seems these guys are operating together off Noumea at the moment. As if it is not enough to face one of them alone right now... Well, not much we can do about that.

Intel. Sebastian has shared some information. I am not sure he realizes how much of a gem that intel was to me, but he has let it become clear that Fuel is a major issue for his ships operating off Noumea. Not that I am really surprised, as he has KB, Baby-KB, 2-4 BBs as well as about half his cruiser force present in the area, as well as some subs. I am happy as long as he keeps burning fuel to bombard Suva, even if the base is allready out of supplies.

Plans. For now the major plan is to reinforce the Suva area, get some more P40s down there, and base B17s on Pago Pago to combat the Japanese aerial forces in the area.

For the first time in history, a naval battle have been fought between forces that could not see eachother!
The Navy calls it a huge success!
Tokyo Rose calls it an Allied disaster!
Supreme commander is cursing!
Read all about it!

Summary
There has been some activity around Suva, and I had all US Flattops in the area, but they were spotted by those darned IJN submerged CVs, and today KB pops up. The result is not as one sided as I feared, but then again it could have been better. Alot depends upon the next turn now, as I think I have an oppertunity to bag more of KB (or I could manage to bag more of my own ships)

Thank you, hopefully things will start to change pace soon, so that there is more to write about. I simply see no need to write about another day of 150 AC bombing the same city for the n-th time.
Well, in retrospect, I guess the turn above DID change things somewhat

This is no April 1st joke!
The IJN loses 2 CVs in surface action. Ok, we grant you that it might be claimed they were lost by aerial engagements yesterday, but nevertheless. The IJN repaid us by sinking an allready damaged light cruiser.

Overall situation
1. We have sunk 2 IJN CVs
2. We have sunk some other IJN surface vessels
3. More IJN vessels including two CVs are damaged and heading for Noumea. Now is the time for to pray for bad dice rolls for the IJN repair crews.
4. We have lost 1 USN CV
5. We might lose 2 other USN CVs
6. We have lost a couple of surface ships.

I think that in a tactical view this is a draw, but strategically it must be considered an Allied victory (atleast I call it so ) as the Allies can draw on more future flattops than the IJN.
