This is last turn of snow so I let myself to be more adventurous and try to capture few bridge-head for future summer offensive. (sounds serious and optimistic :)

Biggest problem for me here is being reliant on only one rail line. It makes my position dependable on holding Stalingrad at all cost, what greatly limits amount of troops available for offensive actions.

Strong German presence west of Lower Volga forces me to keep whole front here. Very annoying.

I would immediately start building three arty divisions a week right into July. It will take time for the arms points to fill them, so if you wait on this, they will not be a big help until late summer. By then you may lose critical time in getting the strategic initiative away from your opponent.

The Wehrmacht is enormous in this game. But your own numbers are finally going up as well, you've added a million men since June of 42.

I will create art units if I will have spare AP and armament, they absolutely have no priority. Once I reach reasonable density of troops I will start building mechanised corps. I need mobile units and not for exploitation but for defence and support.

Unfortunately new infantry divisions are so weak, that to make them usable I need to combine them together with experienced units into infantry corps.

T99 Baku (German)

Mud all over the form appart from Caucasus region where Saper made his move ...

During the course of heavy fighting my line was breached and all is lost. Both units and armament are doomed (already 1 formation wasn't able to retreat and have surrendered).

Initially there was:

4 inf corps, 1 inf brig, 1 cav corps, 1 mt div, 1 mot brig
3 Armament, 3 Heavy Industry, 25 Yak 3

Clear weather all over the front.

My opponent haven't undertaken any attack apart from Baku region where he have destroyed encircled troops - overall 98k soldiers.

Having accomplished his objectives in Caucasus Saper withdrawn his troops from western approaches to Astrakhan. It will free my units there, but considerably straighten main German defensive position as well.

In the north terrain favours defender plus our forces have similar strength so not much can be achieved here.

Units of Southwestern Front that failed to acquire experience during the course of unsuccessful offensive were transferred to center.

I started transporting units from far south and for a turn of two it will give me extra edge - Soviet rail capacity is vastly superior to German, so it will take my opponent a bit more time to relocate his troops from Caucasus.

I try to look for positives and 8th Army, that was just transferred form Astrakhan is one of them.

Most of the troops from Astrakhan region is here, so I enjoy brief spell of superiority. Unfortunately it will end soon once Saper manages to extract his forces from Caucasus.

Clear. Saper didn't undertake any attacks, but almost finished redeploying units that were participating in capturing oilfields.

New units - 1 rkt art div

Reserve mode is main factor, that limits amount of attacks I manage to make. Leads to unexpected holds what forces me to use far far to many units just to be sure I won't lose.

Clear.

I didn't expect to lose vital part of recently expanded bridgehead west of Moscow. I planned to use it and launch minor offensive in this area. Not going to happen I guess.

German forces approached my left flank in force. I can react in two ways:

a) ignore than risking Stalingrad but maintaining current sped of advance (which is low)
b) divert some troops there and risk losing momentum completely.

Saper reinforced Moscow area considerably making any progress here costly and questionable, so I decided to commit even more troops in Tula region.
