WITW: War in the World 1937-1945

- is it time?

my proposal is to gather ideas and possibly implement them

with AE's large map and database, it can be done

some ideas

60 miles hex scale (fit the other half of the world on the same size map)
division size ground units don't need batallion level detail really)
group size air units (that split into 3 squadrons.. WITP had it fine.. you don't need every small adjunct present)

asking the borg collective for advice

if we don't make a WITW, the next game will be War in the Stars 3141-3145 (as some have suggested)

War in the World probably gives us more credibility among historians though

..and helps to aleviate all those dictator complexes.. "hmm.. what alliance do I make.. and what countries do I invade"

Ok, now, skipping the jokes, I think the WitP engine is about the worst basis for large scale ground combat
situations possible.

This is also, while I really respect the ammount of work put into the project, why I have no interest in playing European
front mods using this engine. There is a lot of software out there which easily surpasses WitP in that regard.
So taking into account that your WitW will encompass all large frontlines of WWII, not thanks. I´d chose another game
for that.

Tbh the ground combat engine could work for a ww1 European scenario but I agree with LoBaron. It is barely adequate for the Pacific and not good enough for ww2 Europe.

It's adware, and it's on your machine.

This happened to me about 6-8 months ago. Run a Spybot scan, it will get rid of it. Or you can do a system restore to a time when you know you didn't have it.

6 Allied production similliar to Japan production, Heavy Industry points etc.
7 Fill out the US production with ships that were cancelled or slowed on the building ways when the US figured out they were going to win.

You have got to be kidding with this thread. Why would anyone want to a) spend the time to mod the game to do this (especially sine it took the AE team 3 YEARS just to upgrade the base WitP game) and b) actually want to play it. While the below games all have differnt issues and problem areas, they are at least designed from the ground up as full WWII games

Hearts of Iron I, II, and III
A World Divided
Making History I and II

Not to mention World in Flames being under development (yes I know, it always has been under development lol, but it is actually getting closer than ever before )

So why take an engine that is 10 years old and start trying to modify it? The map alone will take forever. HoI III just came out with their new expansion with a map that is finally accurate (after two previsous expansion and with the HoI III community getiing involved to make it accurate). If that is not enough, check out the WiF forum where they spent a HUGE amount of time on map issues. And they had a physical map to design from .

If you want to start this for your own 'fun' and entertainment. Then my hat is off to you. Just realize that by the time you are done, you may be the only one that will be playing it .
