I totally agree with you on this part. If I try to sail my entire fleet to Marianas in Mid 1944 I'm sure it will be a total defeat for the Allies and I can foresee it right now.

The Japs are many times stronger than it historically was and I haven't find a way to effectively reducing its strength yet. If Championzhao just hide his KB and SCTF somewhere, Allies still have to plan as the entire Combine Fleet will join the Combat and thus greatly slows down our progress.

So my my strategy for now is clear: Create as many fronts as possible and force Japs to garrison as many bases as possible. And if possible, force Japs to give up some of its territories.

Sun Tzu said: "Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."

And I call it "strategic Oppression".

B29s : not the autowin button. I know IRL they were essentially immune to Japanese air defence, but not in WITP. Look at some 1944 AARs, you can see B29s dying like flies (at least, in relation to their replacement rate) in some of them against the hordes of high tech Japanese fighters which he will have. The late war Japs have plentiful radar, the Japs in 1944 have cannon armed aircraft, unlike IRL there won't be hordes of worthless Oscars because Jap industry will be streamlined to produce as much of the best as possible.

Marianas : you aren't necessarily going to be able to sail the Allied CV fleet in mid 1944 up to the Marianas without any preparatory bombing bar super long range unescorted B29s and hoist the US flag after a turkey shoot. FOr starters there will be no turkey shoot because Japanese pilot quality will almost certainly be a-ok. Unlike RL KB is entirely intact. The Allied carrier force will have no significant qualitative advantage in pilots or planes over the Japanese carriers in terms of fighters, and might even have a qualitative deficit given he might have the Sam by then and Hellcats are rather underwhelming. Brute numbers might work, you'll certainly have a lot of CVs. But it might not, and if all you got to support you is an outpost at Marcus Island and some ultra long range B29 bombing, the ball is kinda in his court...

Garrisons: well, I'd expect that to be. I'm amazed by the 200k troops in Rabaul for that reason. Surely he must be weak somewhere vital. He does have the entire map though, so though the IJA does have extra commitments like New Zealand, on the other hand China is no more which frees up a LOT of troops.

The Thunderbolt has a range of 9 hexes and will without a doubt get you air superiority over whatever Japanese base it's in range of. Look for a series of base hops no more than 9 hexes apart that go somewhere vital and hopefully threaten to cut off a bunch of Japanese divisions. Get prepping, and work on them as the opportunity arises.

We achieve a 2:20 air combat over Nauru Island today. Japs are using 80+ exp pilots and we are using 75+ exp pilots.

And this leads to a change of HR, all fighters perform any mission no higher than their second best maneuver band.
And for P38G we will be only able to sweep at 31,000 ft now. And according to my test it will increase some losses for P38G in the future. The ratio will probably be 1:2 to 1:2.5 with similar exp pilots.

One Jap AA battalion is wiped out by air bombing. But, the OP losses for Allied bombers is as many as 10!
This is really big OP losses. And I'm wondering is there anyway to reduce OP losses.

Ops losses are in large part unavoidable, if you fly you will lose a/c.

But you can reduce them - have a big airfield, don't overstack, don't fly fatigued, don't fly in bad weather.

A lot of the time ops losses are damaged aircraft not making it home, or crashing on landing, so if your a/c are getting shot up but not shot down you will see a lot of ops losses. Really, those are ops losses due to enemy action, and the way to avoid those is basically avoid the enemy's firepower - AA concentrations and the like.

I suspect, given that your bombers were attacking an AA unit, that that was the reason for the ops losses.

Yeah. I don't pretend to micromanage that much. Rain or sleet my flyboys earn their keep. No time off for pixeltruppen! They get time off when their a/c are too shot up to continue. In the case of heavy bombers that means they get quite a bit of time off, I think fatigue for my bomber pilots is very rarely over 15, without me paying special care and attention.

Range is a big one that you do have control over, if you fly extended range a lot that pushes up losses considerably. Especially noticeable for search aircraft as if you aren't careful they fly to the limits day in day out.

We have 4 Clemson DD run into a Jap fast transport fleet but their 3" gun doesn't make any substantial damage to those PBs...

Things are really going slow for a couple of days. I'm busy for family and work right now.

Today our SCTF intercepted a Jap fast transport TF at Nauru Island. But the US Omaha class CL is really ineffective. 97% moonlight and we only managed to sunk one Jap PB. I would expect the TF be wiped out, disappointing!

Wow, thats bad luck. Those PBs were damn lucky, or very fast, or something. I'd expect the DDs alone to butcher them, let alone light cruisers as well.

Have you got houserules against ground bombing with 4Es?

In my game it's become clear that from late 43 onwards, a ground unit out in the open in clear terrain is asking for its ass to be kicked. I remember wiping out a tank brigade completely, as in destroyed, gone, in just a few days of massed heavy bombers trashing the place.

IMHO a lot of those Indian bases are essentially indefensible unless extremely heavily fortified or garrisonned in the face of Allied air superiority, as they are in open terrain.

We have HR that 4E only fly over 10,000 ft and no naval attack.

I can't destroy the 600,000 Japs in India because Championzhao concentrate half of the Jap's AA and each of my bombing even at 20,000ft will lead to a loss of about 20 bombers each day. This loss rate is really unacceptable, it's Middle 43 and half of my US bomber groups are still empty and British bombers are running dry real quick.

I really really hate the bomber production of the Allies in AE. Never get enough bombers. Or BTW my US Army fighter groups are not all filled either. The lack of planes is really a PITA.

Ouch. I dont think I've ever faced AA quite that concentrated. It does imply that he must be totally naked elsewhere, though.

Bomber production for the Allies is a major issue, indeed. I'm in '44 and I still don't have enough. It is perfectly normal for heavy bombers to be old models or understrength, I even still got some B17Ds doing naval search duty on some islands. Medium bombers is actually even worse. The B25G and B24D1 are like gold dust. Later on you get A-20s in fairly large numbers but A-20s are only a lil bit better than a Blenheim IV.

At current situation Japs AA don't need to defend much area just India and the Solomons. And the Jap AA is more effective than it was in WITP. I can only hope my bomber production pick up a little bit in later cuz right now I really don't have much asset to suppress his AFs.

The only active stage I have right now is the Gilbert and Marshall and I have successfully draw Championzhao's attention to this area. I can see warships, troops and supplies flow in to reinforce this area.

KB is covering a giant transport fleet in Ponape and I'm sure Championzhao has dumped lots of troops there.

Jap SCTF is guarding the two little atolls of Kuajalein under CAP of about 200 fighters. At least a few CAs and CLs are spotted there.

Hayate(FRANK) in action already!

IJA's 3rd Gen. fighter, Frank, is already in mass production and the Allies' P38G encountered Frank for the first time.

Luckily in Marshall Championzhao can't deploy massive George ans Frank due to their maintenance rating. Otherwise Allies won't have a chance to gain control of the sky in 1943. I'm using P40 variants right now. P38G production is only 20 per month.

All instructor group rocks!

This time Championzhao put 27 instructor level pilots(exp>81) in one Frank fighter group, and beat the **** out of Allies pilots.

Half of the P38s were shot down of the all 100 P38s that Allies have. And the Japanese lost is mere.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Jun 28, 43

A Jap transport fleet was discovered by Catalina the day before near Nauru Island and expected to arrive tonight.
I sent out a fast SCTF and it did really good job. About 10 large Jap PBs(which can carry 1000 tons of supply each) was sunk during the short engagement.

On top of that, one IJN sub was sunk and AK Nitisan Maru sunk by USS Skipjack near Ponape
