And then the Japs try a sweep of Singapore and it didn't go all that well. Too many Allied planes still.

My recon by bombardment at Gasmata revealed that I'm facing a force twice my size and he's got more troops headed into the hex. I'm
going to have to ship some more people into Gasmata if I'm going to hold it.

In today's Allied bombardment attack at Port Moresby I lose nearly 300 people. I've since ordered my people to do bombardment
but some of them are out of supplies.

Here's where the Allied TF's are. I like to see this view and make it blink on and off so I don't miss anybody but I forgot to do it this time
for some reason and quite by accident discovered the Allied TF near Tarawa and remembered to do this. Just so I don't miss anybody.
If I can find them I can plan more accurately about what to do about it. I'd hate to miss out on an opportunity to hit some target
somewhere. Like that stack of stuff that used to be inhabiting Christmas Island IO.......I'm just going to have to see if I can chase them
down and kill them somewhere. It might take an AO or two to do just that but hey this is war.

EDIT: I made a blinking version of this but it was really hard on your eyes. Trust me, you'd thank me to make it stop.....

This one is a little better......only the dots are blinking, this is without labels, so it's not so hard on the eyes and still conveys information.

Just a test of the Google/opendocs/ direct file link capability:

Evidently it doesn't work. So I don't know how to use open docs or the image referenced isn't a picture. Or something.

click on this line to see where it leads

EDIT: Okie dokie it's not a direct link. Good to know. But I can still post files there.

But tinypic DOES let me use direct links......So I'll be using tinypic I guess.

I just noticed that I have a lot of big TF's. Maybe a little more than a dozen.

Larry,

I just tried all four of these links you posted and I get a permission error: 'you don't have permission to access these items'. That probably means you need to do the part of that procedure where you change access permission to 'anyone with the link'.

Second thing - once when tooling around somewhere on the forums here I came across a help button that gave a list of the forum mark up codes. Realizing that I would never remember where to find it again when I needed it I cut and pasted it to a text file. I'm attaching the text file.

I thought I did that. D'oh. Maybe Google is having a problem? Nah, that wouldn't be it. Lemme monkey around with the shared
settings and see can I figure this out.

Yeah, I found that same file a long time ago and did a text cut & paste too. But thanks for sharing with us.

I'm going over the bases just now and I discovered that I have twice as many planes at Bangkok than are supported. So I need to move
some of them to somewhere else. Need to spread out more.

I was going through the list of ships, well TF's, and found a one-ship TF in Palembang, a PB not docked but in port and it was there for
the beginning of the turn and obviously it's mission is wrong. So I attempted to turn it into an ASW platform but the game engine wouldn't
allow it. So I got to looking and sure enough it's got a DC rack but no DC's to drop. So I got to looking for how many DC's I have in the
pool and used the industry / troops / resource pool button ( I think I got that labeled correctly ) and the second window, the one at the
bottom of the image is the list I get. I'm not sure which of the categories DC's are in. Anybody know? I'll look around some more and let
you know what I find.

I had that problem in one of my games too. I had supply problems at the base and it needed so many thousands of supply to rearm D/C's, TT's etc.
I disbanded the TF and recreated it - presto the D/C slot was filled! Dont know exactly what the problem was - just the workaround worked!

I get the impression that Jim timed his landings south of Tarawa. He forces me to split up my combatants and come at him piecemeal.
That's a really good idea and I salute him. Great moves. I like you better already. Learn something new each day.

EDIT: And another thing. By timing his landings I mean he actually worked it out on paper or something, how long each TF would take
to get to it's target and how far away it was and how fast the TF was and so on so as to have the ships land at their target hopefully at
the same time. That way only one of them could be effectively attacked and there was the possibility of having your predator split up
his forces and nobody gets attacked effectively. I like that idea a lot Jim. I applaude you. Let's keep playing and see what else you
have up your sleeve. Great move.

I went to the "List All Army Planes" button and determined that Jehol was a city that needed some AF dudes and I couldn't remember if I
had already dispatched somebody to Jehol. So I went to the "List all ground units" button and sorted so that the Target cities are listed
and found Jehol. I had set those units to have their target planning city to be Jehol so that they would come up on the list this way. And
I found that indeed I HAD already dispatched at least two AF dudes units to Jehol. So I'm not sure how long it'll take them to get there
but they will eventually get there I'm assuming. Maybe I should check out where they are and how long it'll take to arrive at their target
city.

Okay Jim........it's Monday 08:32 am and I've just sent you my moves. Let's work on Rob's moves now while we're waiting for Jim's moves. Cool.

EDIT: it's now Monday pm 18:55 and I've received Jim's moves........unfortunately I'm working on Rob's moves at the moment but I'm on
TF 200 and there's only 744 of them so I should get through w/ Rob's moves in about 6 hours or so. That's about 01:00 tomorrow but
I'm going to stay with it until I can at least do the combat replay and get that file to Jim to play with. I'm sorta dying to know what
happened too. But being an adult I feel like I can postpone gradification until the proper moment. Check w/ me again about 03:00
your time Jim. I might have started on your moves by then and I'll start posting a bunch of stuff in the AAR relating to combat action.

I'm going to do a bombardment mission w/ BB Fuse and escorts and I'd like a spotter to make the shots more accurate ( and do more
damage ). So I've set the spotter plane on night missions and recon and 70% search ( I'm not sure I'm supposed to set the search if
the mission is recon ). I'm guessing that should do it. Anybody know?

I think its by priority - the recon will happen followed by the search if avaialble. I usually just zero out all patrol functions when I recon, especially if there's only 1 plane to use.

Timing task forces is relatively easy,
< 14kts = 3 hexes per turn
> 15kts = 4 hexes per turn
> 20kts = 5 hexes per turn
I select the originating base then mouse over the destination, it will display the distances in hexes... then you do the division, giving you an approximate travel time.
I learned it from these AAR's so no credit for me. Again to beat the drum - its vital to have a notebook when playing this game.
example - TF #155 loaded 3/23 + 10 days to Tarawa ETA = 4/3

Here's the latest Tracker economic chart. The number of nonproductive oil refineries is high because I have some refineries turned off.
So as to avoid spoilage you see. Besides the oil is handy in the Jap home islands. So I can afford to accumulate some to ship it.
