Its a really good game. If you don't need world class graphics in your games, you'll enjoy it. It's easy to jump into and plays quick and has lots of scenarios. It's has phase gameplay with 2 hour day turns and 4 hour nite turns. You can pretty much start playing with little manual reading at all.the AI doesn't do anything obviously stupid in my experience. I haven't tried PBEM but the people who do play PBEM enjoy it. I posted a couple AAR's here is this thread http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=933

Give it a look....i've enjoyed it.

If you don't mind dated graphics, it's the best game made. Easy to learn, difficult to master. PBEM is simple and clean. There is absolutely nothing about this game to dislike. The bugs were taken care of. JMASS did a graphics update which helps temendously.

There is a bunch of scenarios included with the game and a wide range of theartres. If you like making your own battles, the editor is a piece of cake. Budd and Max86, Joe, and others have updated the manual also.

This game will fade, has faded into obscurity, but it will remain on my HD for as long as I can keep it running. If it had updated graphics it would have sold a whole lot better. The tutorial actually works which is more than I can say for some games around here, and when you finish the tutorial you are good to go.

difficult question to answer. That would vary person to person and would depend on how they play games. IMHO..... there scenarios, so you don't really get attached to units or troops. The graphics aren't fancy but they tell you what you need to know and with a little imagination they work just fine. The immersion factor for me kicks in when playing a battle i know, then i can picture it real well in my head.It felt pretty immersive when i took Carentan and pushed out to try and take Douville and Meautis[never even sniffed la Campagne] objective hexes with my battered troops, those 75 and 100pt objective hexes were so inviting. The briefing said i would be counter attacked, history said i would be counter attacked but i wasn't ready when it came and started getting pushed back[i now doubt my strategy, maybe i shouldn't have had my main and only attack down that main road and sent troops around thru the bocage, but moving thru the bocage is slow...hmmmm..maybe next time]. I held on for a draw. I would imagine for the pbem crowd the immersion would be greater. This is a solid fun title, that is easy to get into and deeper than it appears, and apparently easy to mod. The AI is solid as well and there are settings to adjust for the AI.I would recommend it now, and with the holiday sale near i certainly would recommend it. Again, read your AAR's and forum posts to help you make up your mind. As always YMMV.

This game is like a low budget, B-movie you just can't get enough of. Sure the special effects are weak but you watch it anyway because something about it works for you. Combat Command is the same way, the graphics aren't the prettiest, interface is a tad outdated but overall the game just works on so many levels that you will come back to it again and again. Command from HQs is important, supply, ranged fire across several hexes, phased turns, opportunity fire, it really has a lot to offer.

+1 to what everyone else has said too.

.It should be updated with new graphics and scenarios but I like it a lot anyway.
