T6 24.07.1941 (before my move)

I think here some time was wasted by Germany, there was no need to pocket two weak divisions.

T6 24.07.1941 Dnepr is crossed!

I was able to push his tanks in place specified and save my elite units from Cherkassy. Pay attention to direction of his assaut. Now my first worries that half of AGS will go to Moscow.

T7 31.07.1941 After my move.

Unfortunately I forgot to save T6 after my moves, on T6 I moved 27 and 16 armies behind Luga. Now Nothwest armies look ugly on Northern front area but I found this as the only effective measure to enforce defense of Leningrad. Feeling Kamil's tendancy to make small pockets I left two weak divisions before the river and second time Germany wasted MP of their fast units to pocket them.

T7 31.07.1941 Western front. All German tanks went to Bryansk (or Kaluga). No targets to attack as well.

T7 31.07.1941 Ukraine.

Here I think is my strategic mistake - Despite I suspected he is going to turn to North I left Kursk-Orel-Moscow direction nearly uncovered and evacuated Kharkov.
I must say that from T6 (crossing Dnepr) and implementation of evacuation plan I systematically attenuate Ukrainian armies in favour of Western and even NW fronts.

I will present mid-summer situation from my perspective.

My goal was to destroy as many units as possible and to capture manpower centres. Most promising direction to achieve both objectives was Moscow - relatively favourable terrain plus necessity to defend the capital leading to encircling opportunities even in latter stages of summer operations.

Unfortunately by turn 6 Mike was holding all the cards, so to minimise damage I started to settle for small prey and tried to satisfy myself with even tiniest pocket.

My situation was especially bad in Leningrad area, which I consistently neglected in terms of reinforcements (only 1 mot divisions moved there at the start of the game). I think the city will be beyond my reach.

Until turn 9 I made 4, maybe 6 HQ build-ups. Majority of available AP were spent on new commanders.

Casualties (start of turn 9):

German - 225.900
Soviet - 1.531.029

Figures of suffered and inflicted losses are extremely alarming.

T9 north (German - start)

T9 centre and south (German - start)

In the centre panzers 20-30 MP, in the south 30-40 MP.

Good game.

After 1.06.11 as can be seen in allot of AAR's including this one, its possible to hold Leningrad vs some of the best GHC players + its impossible to take Moscow. Even in the south its not easy to take Stalino.

Based on the current AAR's all things being equal, Leningrad/Moscow and Rostov can be held and Berlin falling in late 44 is again the norm, all things being equal.

Hoooper is doing the standard who cares about the south and loading up from Tula north. The south is a none factor area now for SHC.

I say your in for a really bad blizzard, a poor 42, and Berlin burning in late 44 - unless you can turn things around the next 9 turns Kamil.

Russian losses will be under 2.7 million by Dec and SHC OOB will be over 5 million.

After 1.06.11 in most games the losses are in the 2.5-2.8 million range ALLOT lower then before that 3.2 to 3.5. A huge difference of a million men in many cases.

Game is very stactic now after turn 7 in most cases other then in the south, which has become nothing more then flipping hexes after turn 7

I do not intend to hijack Mike's AAR, but assuming, that it will be while before next burst of his activity I decided to post one more screen-shot to sharpen appetites.

T9 centre/south (German)

For the first time I have spotted weakness in Soviet defences. Although execution of my manoeuvre was far from perfect and pocket will be probably broken developments in Sumy - Kursk area should put Mike on a back foot for turn or two.

In fact, the future is not as rosy as it might seem after the eighth turn. Problems started at ninth turn and then have not stopped. Leningrad area is the only front which make me cautiously optimistic.

T9 14.08.1941 "Sumy pocket". Thanks God I moved all elite units of 18th Army to Western front one turn before. Anyway - 100 000 guys. I must say I expected direction of assault but so many MP of his tanks. Now South-Western front ceased to exist. Commanders are executed, personal files placed to NKVD archive. But heroic units of 18th Army continue their fight on other fronts.
