all the enemy is doing is flying those milk runs for 10 months already and bombarding Clark Field, a base he should have long just turned into a POW camp while he completely ignores my offensive right into the SRA which I am doing deliberately slowly... in fact I start to more and more think about doing it as fast as I can because this might end the game once and for all because it is so boring, even the AI is more active than the IJ High Command in this PBEM...

the game being the most boring ever of my PBEMs this attack must be seen as exceptionally interesting... woohooo...

don't know what the enemy is thinking, but he kept ships at Manado which I have been reconning for quite some time (giving Cuttlefish a chance to move his ships out before I will bomb them in port) but he refused to do so so I have sent in my bombers today... to be honest I am feeling a little dumb to play the way I do, everytime I am thinking about an attack or an offensive I am also thinking if I should do it or if it would be too succesful and what I can do to make it not too hard for the enemy... this is just insane...

the enemy AV at Manado was sunk as were the rest of the ships, going down with Kiyokawa Maru were six Pete float planes

and there is no sign of the enemy airforce nor all the ground units the Empire of Japan should be able to field against me, the whole front North of Darwin is so empty even the AI would task more units for the defense, really bizarre

damn it... first I was surprised to see an enemy troop transport "near" the front, which seems to be going to Java (perhaps Cuttlefish is at least thinking about defending Java?), then I saw 4 working torps missing the ship just off Soerabaja...

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Manus

and that's it for the last Japanese on Manus... the whole operation against enemy positions at and around Rabaul were a full success, the only losses we took were one or two ships that ran aground, the enemy did nothing (not even defending the place in acceptable strenght)... the bases in the Solomons are no threat and only lightly garissoned, we have tasked a couple of rgt to prepare for both Munda and Shortlands which will be taken early 43 and then the only enemy base with a couple of Japanese troops on New Guinea and the Solomons will be Hollandia with something like 7,000 troops... one could think neither New Guinea nor the area around Timor got any importance for the Japanese while it has to be obvious for a blind person that this is the area I was focussing since day one of the war... I have massed pretty much everything in Australia to attack the SRA, New Guinea and the Solomons (as a secondary target) and Cuttlefish had halve a year already to prepare for this but so far he didn't at all...

I think I am spending more time every turn for pilot training than the enemy spends for his whole turn and I am really fearing that at some point all the "work" I am putting into my turns will be wasted... with nearly no airwar going on, the enemy should drown in highly skilled pilots but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that after some intense weeks of fighting (if that will ever happen) that the Japanese run out of qualified pilots...

I am sorry that I can't provide any more interesting reports but there is just nothing happening at all... after speaking to Cuttlefish some time ago on the situation and his passivity I have even reduced my offensive efforts so that he gets a chance to regroup and finally do something when he said he will try to improve his defenses after stating that it would be so discouraging not even being able to take Clark Field... that means that the coming weeks will be even more boring than the game (and the AAR) already is, which is something nearly not to believe as boring as it already was...

It seems like this game is over and CF has no heart for it. Time to offer him an out. And if he won't take it, perhaps bow out yourself..

If there won't be a dramatic change in the game this is exactly what will happen.

CF said he would try to do better, we are in mid Jan 43 in the game already but I haven't seen him increasing his defenses so far, don't know if he really is into the game. If I can continue to grab land without any resistance then it is becoming more and more a farce and I will drop the game declaring myselve winner as the Japanese got no will to fight on. Seriously, I will look at it until mid 43, when there is still no Japanese reaction at all then I will have taken so much ground that I have relieved Luzon anyway and it would make continuing pretty much ridicoulos if there is no resistance because Cuttlefish just doesn't want to.

since the bombings of Bandoeng have started (must have been some time in early/mid 42) these Lillies have been flying from Palembang which is quit a hop for these bombers and while the enemy has lost over a hundred throughout the war so far it is not really a lot when I compare it to my ridicoulosly high losses when my bombers/patrols fly nav search... something is seriously wrong here and has always been...

parts of the IJAAF woke up as they flew a mission on my Army moving onto Moulmein... this can be seen as the start of the Battle for Moulmein which pretty much will decide about the whole campaign against the area around Bangkok because if I can break through at Moulmein the enemy will be in deep trouble... as it stands now CF seems to make a stand behind the river, most of my Army will cross the river into the hex East of Moulmein though as I am surely not shock attacking into the base... 1500 av will hold the hex North of Moulmein to keep the enemy from cutting my rear supply lines, when we have crossed the river we will slowly start to surround the base (will take some time in these jungle hexes)... all in all we have 6500 av operating against the Japanese, some 300 fighters and 250 bombers of different types are also available... I expect the enemy to field something like 2500 av in the area supported by some 100 fighters and a meager number of bombers at the moment... the IJAAF should be superior to mine in the area though if CF actually decides to use his airforce... we'll see... his reaction on my flanking moves will be interesting as well...

the whole combat replay was boring as usual but the op report was quite funny... guess usually the Philipine troops don't hold out long enough to see them being disbanded on Luzon...

Cuttlefish might start to get more serious here. Granted the IJA suffered more casualties overall, but in number of units destroyed, the Allies had the disadvantage.

Have you thought of moving against his bases in the Solomons? It shouldn't be too hard to isolate, bomb, and then mop up.

Only Shortlands and Munda left in the Solomons, together having a garisson of not even 15,000 troops. Both bases aren't a threat but are on the list of my secondary targets (what my rgts are for). Tulagi is Japanese too, a couple of hundred men there, no airfield so those Japanese just rot there.

we drop a Marine para btn onto Madang but the initial attack fails... I really don't know if it's a bug or if it's a design flaw but no matter how many transports I am using, the paras NEVER got any supply on day one... this just sucks balls, I have used more than 100 C-47 plus another 36 USMC C-47 which is more than twice the number of transports needed to drop a para btn so more than 50% of the transports should go in carrying supplies but they simply don't do...

here's another screen showing supply development in China... as you can see within a month there were more than 100,000 tons of supply flowing to China, all coming from Burma... not only supplies but also fuel is coming from Burma as you can see... oil totals are going up and down but that's a tracker error, there are around 70k oil in China, mostly sitting in the Northern bases flowing South in numbers that are needed at the small refinery sites...

I've never paid attention to that. Now that you've seen it and bring it up, I suppose trying the amphib invasion trick is worth a try: Assign enough transports to fly the troops in, plus assign other transports to fly supplies in. I really don't know if that will work with the game engine (will the supply runs get cancelled because they go before the troops and therefore the troops are not there yet, etc.?) but it's worth a shot.

Modifiers shows no lack of supply, so it is possible, that all supply was used in assault. Have you checked what happens, when attack is made against empty base?

It doesn't look like the entire battalion dropped. The combat report shows it is a fragment.

unfortunately that doesn't work as I had that idea myselve earlier too already, if you don't have troops there already, the game will tell you something like "no friendly base or friendly troops at the base" and you can't assign the transports to fly in supplies, just to transport troops that can be air dropped. As soon as you have troops there you can assign your transports to fly in supplies but the first day your paras attack without any supplies.
