05 Feb 1944 Air battle not quite to plan... Indicators and Warnings A single ship is detected SW of Ceylon, looks like Andrew is trying to scout out our detection capabilities. we have several subs with search aircraft. The P-47 and 4E planes don't fly. This is a tad concerning. We expect him to try to take out the airfields near any landing site... Sabang / Georgetown area is possible... Subs Sub attack near Laoag at 81,71 Japanese Ships E Mikura E W-29 E Hiyodori Allied Ships SS Seadragon, hits 1 ASW attack near Phuket at 47,69 Japanese Ships DD Asagiri Allied Ships SS Finback, hits 2, heavy damage Burma Both Moulmein and Chiang Mai are 1 % off their next fort level, 7 and 6 respectfully. Pulling back more troops to create a bigger reserve... something nasty is coming. Well our fighters LRCAPed the Thai forces, his sweeps came in first though and we didn't really get into the bomber stream. See below for the totals. A bit disapointing to be flying basically the best fighters, with around 60 exp, 70 A-A and 60 Def pilots and still only just do 1:1... we were at 4 altitude bands, 38,000 for the "r" models, 31,000 for the George, some "r" at 16,000 and the oscar at 1000. The enemy fighters generally get our lower flying CAP, then when thebombers came the rest were too high to intercept that effectively.
