Sounds very promising indeed!

A little copy/paste here from Vic's website;

"Although I cannot say much about the next game engine I am working on I would like to say that progress is going slow but good. I think I have been on it now for 2 months and I feel like I have something really special on my hands if it all works out as I envision. It just has a good feeling to it. And I think its important the simple things feel right: Moving your units, doing attacks, etc… So far I have mostly been working on engine stuff like 3D card accelerated 2D graphics, animation and all sort of basic coding. Today I was working on seemless PBEM replays and AI turn watching. I am trying to get an alpha version as quick as possible, then get more people on board, first some graphics people and as quickly as possible some alpha testers. I try to focus on the basics of the engine, GUI and gameplay first and then move to detailing everything. Again excuse me for not telling much about the gameplay itself, but I want to make some more progress first."

I guess the big question is what time period or conflict will it be based on ? Or has that already been disclosed ?

Indeed, there are so many games that have been ruined just because they had to implement 3D... Gameplay is everything, eyecandy comes next.

Hold the press! :-) not that a small update of the graphics would hurt... hehe.

No, serious? SP remake with cleaner graphics and elevation map/filter/layer would be awesome.

I was hoping it was true.

If you go to Vic's website and take a look at his twitter feed you can see a pic he posted of him working at the game. The screen doesn't really tell you much, it's all blurry and too far away from the camera to tell you much.

A tactical game from Vic would be wonderful, especially if there was some way to link it to his existing masterpieces.

Probably the mystery project is a better version of ATG. I like the way it goes. Many small improvements are much better than a few spectacular changes. Quality can be seen on small details. The wishlist thread have plenty of imaginative ideas from the community, for sure it´ll be pretty helpful to Vic. I consider that the road to realism is not against fun (good rule=Realism+fun). The supply feature is the key of ATG (war without supply is no war at all) so it needs to be worked carefully. Also is neccesary an important improvement in AI (specially in sea scenarios). Of course all these changes will come gradually taking a long time, too much work for a single person.
