If I want to air transport supplies how does that work exactly? For example I have a squadron of DC-2's in Kunming and I want to bring supplies into Kunming do I need to rebase the unit some where else or will it bring the supplies to where the aircraft are stationed?

Supplies go from BaseA to BaseB (kunming). So, have them stationed at the base with supplies. Troop transport can be either way.
[Edit]
video at this page has troop transport but not supplies.

And before you ask the equations are thus ...

quote:

Air transport is handled fairly simplistically compared to ship transport.
-----------
Moving troops from base to base:
a) Can't move a non-squad or non-engineer device with a load cost >9

Air dropping troops:
a) Can't air drop a non-squad device with a load cost >7 or if none are ready

Common for ready devices:
b) Aviation support - 2 devices moved plus 2 more if a/c max load is 7500 or more
c) Squad or Engineer device type - 1 device moved plus one more if a/c max load is 7500 or more

Common for disabled devices:
d) Aviation support - 2 devices moved
e) Squad or Engineer device type - 1 device moved plus one more if a/c max load is 7500 or more

----------------
Moving supply:
Supply amount is a/c max load divided by 2000 with a minimum of 1. This is removed from the source and added to the destination unless air-dropped where a random value is added to the destination.

What happens if you target planes to drop supplies to friendly units occupying an enemy base that is contested? Will the supplies go to your units?

Yes, but with a random supply element calculated.

ok thanks. Hard to tell if my air supplies helping or just base supplies moving up chain to units. Is there a certain strategy Japan can use to keep their units supplied? Beside controlling roads? Should I be stockpiling supplies at more inner bases?

Be careful with stockpiling as it has flow on effects. Drawing is much better within the game code.
