Forge of Freedom is on the definite must buy list.

How is the AI in Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem?
I spent dozens of hours in high school playing the SSI classic. But the downfall was always poor AI.

I absolutely LOVED Forge of Freedom...unfortunately it looks crap on newer resolutions...I just couldn't play it on my 22" monitor

I wish they'd update the interface - it's a fantastic game!

It's fixed at 1024x768. It looks fine on my 32" monitor though. A lot depends on how your monitor and graphics card scale games that are at resolutions other than your monitor's native resolution and whether you know the options to try in your driver settings. The way I have my system setup here, all my fixed resolution games look good but YMMV.

Seriously Erik? Anything programmed to 1024x768 doesn't look right on a monitor sporting larger resolutions. Admittedly options on the drivers can "ease" the pain you feel through your eyes - but you are making the game MASSIVE!

1024x768 does not look nice on a monitor sporting 1650x1080...I'm speaking from experience. You might "put up with it" - but it doesn't look nice compared to something which will scale to the right resolution - and in this case if it did then I'd still be playing Forge of Freedom.

I would much rather you just put out a patch (hell I'd pay for a patch) that gives the interface an uplift so I can play it

Or you could pass on these tips and I'll see if it works - but I tried everything to get this game looking nice enough that I could play it again - to no avail!

It really does vary from monitor to monitor and card to card. Sometimes it can look fine and other times quite nasty.

Judge,

It does vary widely based on graphics card/monitor combination as well as setting, but there is also certainly a subjective component. I may be fine with how it looks on my system, but you may not be.

There is usually an option in your graphic card software to scale it so it gives borders rather than stretching the game..but I have yet to ever get it working.

Shame Command Ops HTTR wasn't on sale.

HHTR was not on sale as it released earlier this year. That is the general rule that is applied as don't want the hard core fans who are the early adopters to feel cheated by price drops too soon. I know this is not what everyone else does but you always knew we were different!

Good to know. The store earlier this week was saying they were still out of stock.

As a long time supporter if Matrix - I would just say that where you don't have exclusive rights to games you should do a quick internet search and see that you are being undercut on no less than 5 games on offer here - and some by more than 50%...

As a loyal subject, I will continue to support and pay more for games here; but can that be said for all?

Thanks for the info - the problem is that for those games we are not kept up to date when sales are run by other sites and its not really possible to do a daily search. If you let us know which games we can see what we can do as we are not allowed to just drop prices on these games without permission from the developer. Only a small portion of the line up is not exclusive and going forwards its going to be less and less as the whole distribution model doesn't work and we're only interested in titles where we have exclusivity so we can properly market and manage them.

Okay - I didn't put the price points here as well as the competition before, but as you ask...
Gamersgate has:
1. Time of Wrath $6.80
2. Armada 2526 $14.95
3. AI wars $16.99 (not sale)

Making History II was also a weekend sale at $5.99 but has subsequently gone back up in price to more than the Matrix price point.

This was just a quick check of one site. Yesterday I checked a few others and found other deals too. It does really depend on the day that you search.

I don't want to see other Game Distributors cutting into your market share as Matrix needs to be around for a long time to come.

That's really the problem - the prices on the sites change on a daily basis and we do not get notified and if we did we probably wouldn't have the bandwidth to keep changing prices. We don't like this one day sales with huge discounts that get headlines but punish the normal customer. Usually by the time you get there the prices have changed...

Picked up WITP-AE and Harpoon.

Haven't played Harpoon in a long long time (the original version).
That should be me set for the next 12 months or so.
