Hello all, First, I want to thank you all, the programmers, level designers, playtesters, and veterans who have put their time into making this game the very best it can be. It is amazing how ith as progressed from version to version, and especially how much improvement has been made over the original. Now, for the reason that I'm here. I saw, once upon a time, a scenario or campaign set that was designed using a replacement OOB set for one of the minors. It was based on the wonderful series by Harry Turtledove called Worlds at War. For me, I love the series, since it combines two things that interest me most, Science Fiction and, most especially, U.S. Military History. I'm looking for this scenario/campaign. If anyone has any ideas of where it might be, that would be greatly appreciated. A little background on me, just as an introduction. I'm a computer network administrator. My boss is a Vietnam veteran who was an combat engineer with the Americal (sp?) division (two tours). My father is a Korea veteran (airforce, Clark AFB, 1 tour, PFC, Maintnance). You could say that military is more a function of environment for me. I would have followed in my father's footsteps and gone into the Airforce, but, due to medical reasons, they wouldn't have me. I'm an avid Command Decision player, as well as a veteran of the entire Steel panthers series (I, II, III, and now SPWAW). I haven't been brave enough to do a PBEM yet, but, maybe I'll start soon. And, as for the handle, I have a reputation among my friends for the use of hollow charge rounds in the M7 priest(actually plural, since in Command decision, your units are abstracted down for easier play) to chase down and destroy annoying tank units. I promise that my future posts will be a little shorter than this AT_Priest AKA Joel ------------------ "Cry Havoc, and let slip the dogs of war"

Welcome Priest and thanks for the kindness. It is our pleasure. I've heard of the series, but never read them. I did not know such a campaign existed but it should be quite interesting. I'll ask around. A lot of earlier SP sites have shut down, but you never know. Glad to have you with us! Joel, I have this, a fellow in Australia was kind enough to allow me to convert the set from SP2 to SPWAW, it uses Norway, and also requires changing the mech.exe, and some icon files. Unfortunately, the altered mech.exe, after version4.5, doesnt work very well, it will play, but the steel.prf needs reset EVERY time you start the game, so I quit tinkering with it.I have the files, Mech.exe, and special sounds, but not sure if I want to send them out, if I do, they are at your own risk, I have no time noww to help if problems arise They still were'nt finalized so.... ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue

Hmm, this has possibilities. From what you said, it seems to me that it would work with 4.2 then? If I can find it, I'll try and grab an older version of the game and maybe install it on my second computer (currently gathering dust) to use with that stuff. Drop me a line at my hotmail account... joel_in_NOLA@hotmail.com and perhaps we could arrange a transfer, if you're willing. Also, since I suspect that the older version isn't currently available for download, can anyone help me with obtaining it? Thanks a bunch, everyone.

I took a look in the scenario archives in the Wargamers site and found what I think is what we are all referencing for the old SP2 scenario. However, it has a flaw, its based on HG Wells' Work, The War Of The Worlds. Not entirely off base from what I'm looking for, but, still not quite what I had in mind. Harry Turtledove's series gives the invading aliens the ground capacilities of the US just prior to the introduction of the M1 Abrams. They have developed space travel, but, not much more in the way of ground combat capabilities. This is due to a racial limitation to not develope things more than they absolutely need to be. Since they haven't come across anyone that's much past the horse and buggy stage, they haven't needed better equipment. To simulate this, you would need to be able to have modern hardware available with WW2 hardware, and then model a generic battle (to start with). If you've ever read the books, they are a fascinating walk through alternative history.

Ahh, on that note, maybe you would be interested in this; I did a mod for the Chinese Comms, long story short, future Communists, on the verge of being wiped out, use a time travelling machine to get back to the 90's. From there, they set up a stable wormhole to the late thirties, supplying the Communists with the industrial base in a secluded area, to produce choice hardware for the cause! Type 90-II MBT's and more. Works well, although the helicopters are forced to fly all but landed, since the height setting preference no longer exists Again, it was a fun thing I put togetrher for personal, not complete, but it's fun!! I had converted the guys Lizard thing awhile back also, but dropped it after awhile. I think I still may have that somewhere also, just don't have any time now to work on any of these, unfortunately, I like the future meets past theme!! ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue
