Agreed. It's obvious that the English Gentleman from Kandy House would have a fancy port, if he had any sort of port whatever.

Or to drink with the cheese course.

Oh, oh, oh! I know what an Aggie Weston is. 4th rotor, setting A-7. The architecture and blinds and open verandas and windows do NOT look like England.

The archway looks Moorish. Gibraltar maybe?

That surface group North of Jolo did not show up. The AK's and the CL group should be on station now. We may have just won the fight for Jolo.

Sorong, Sorong: Rooks rike we should have attacked earlier. Probabry a week and a half of air strikes took the starch out of 'em.

We brought the equivalent of a USMC division (even if I mixed "Hollywoood Marines" with 2nd Div Marines ) plus 2 combat engineer units and a Bn of Stuarts. Curiously the attack strength was 2x the nominal value. I didn't know that could happen. Pretend I didnt read the manual. Also not quite sure how the defenders were less prepared. they must have been there 6 months at least. This powerfully secures the right flank of the salient and threatens the North coast of New Guinea.

Ground combat at Sorong (82,107)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 14992 troops, 282 guns, 371 vehicles, Assault Value = 584

Defending force 5836 troops, 32 guns, 96 vehicles, Assault Value = 196

Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 2

Allied adjusted assault: 1041

Japanese adjusted defense: 57

Allied assault odds: 18 to 1 (fort level 2)

Allied forces CAPTURE Sorong !!!

Japanese aircraft
no flights

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-49-Ia Helen: 1 destroyed

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), forts(+), preparation(-), fatigue(-)
experience(-)

Davao: JJ have deduced the pattern and they are seriously protecting their major airfields. Precious P-38's are lost. Sometimes you just have to joust on even terms...and take a lance to the shoulder....and it hurts like ****. Sadly the B-24's at Boela fail to take advantage of the opportunity after the sacrifice of the P-38 squadron. I'm not naming names but I suspect union acitivty.

Morning Air attack on Davao , at 79,91

Weather in hex: Clear sky

Raid detected at 19 NM, estimated altitude 35,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 3 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-44-IIa Tojo x 22
Ki-45 KAIa Nick x 18

Cotabato: To my partial surprise (and perhaps to Admniral Lord Sprior as well ). ...nothng terrible happpens How long can this go on? Maybe we should just load up 4-5 regiments and set sail for Kyushu? It's a Naval Guard unit at Cotabato. This must be a Bn level unit right?

Pre-Invasion action off Cotabato (78,90)

16 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

Allied Ships
CL Caradoc
SC PC-582
SC PC-581
AK Mercury

CL Caradoc firing at 16th Naval Guard Unit

With milspeak like that, aren't you going to give the reader the uncomfortable image of forethought, pranning and competence in your offensive thrust? Wouldn't that be a departure from the tone of this magnificent World's Worst AAR? Is Lord Admiral Sprior OK with this? I'm so confused...

I'm sure it was a ghost writer that composed that and that normal service will be resumed soon.

Good morning, I am General Doulgas A MacArthur. I am a four star general. Did I mention that? I would like to talk to you today about Allied operation in a place very dear to me, the Phillipines. Now, I have no quarrel with the bravery of our soldiers, sailors and marines. My concern is with leadership. Palawan has no strategic value. We must chose vital targets. I propose we drop the 503rd right here...in Manila....<nods to aide who pulls down map of Manila>..on the grounds of the San Miguel Brewery. Now, you average sake-swilling Japanese knows nothing of fine brewing. We will bring the Empire to its knees. Think about it. You go out for sushi and the bastards want an extra $4 for a bottle of Kirin...<POOOF...there is a cloud of smoke where the General used to stand. As the smoke clears a much younger man with Asiatic features and foreign-lookin uniform stands in his place>

Good-ah morning. I am-ah Warrant Officer Saito. Perhaps you remember me from-ah Word War II(a). I was commanding officer of USS Sart Rake City for two grorious weeks. Now, I know some say, "oh no reader bug is back" but this-ah not fair. It not-ah reader bug for me. For me it-ah job opportunity...<POOF>
