Hi Guys

Uncommon Valor v2.20 is now available.

PATCH ITEMS FOR VERSION 2.20

1) The routine that allows planes to be transferred from a carrier to a base, using the list of bases, should now work. It was broken and the user had to click on the base on the map to make the transfer.
2) Air groups that transfer to a new base or ship that is zero hexes away, should now have only a small chance to be destroyed in the process, as it is assumed they are being hoisted.
3) Minesweeping missions should now work, when sweeping enemy mines from friendly bases.
4) Doubled training schedule for all pilots. This means more experienced pilots will make it to the theater.
5) Allied heavy bombers should no longer shoot down large numbers of light fighters, such the Zero. Instead, these fighters will be driven away by defensive fire. They may take a little damage in the process.
6) Flights of aircraft should now abort the mission more often, if large numbers of planes from those flights are being shot down. This may affect other flights in the squadron, who may also abort. Morale is an important factor in the consideration.
7) When a flight aborts a mission, the number of aircraft of that type shown on the combat resolution screen now reflects the fewer number. So, if you have 30 B-25 bombers and 6 abort, the screen display will now show 24 bombers.
8) Bombers that abort the mission will no longer bomb target and will not usually be pursued by enemy fighters.
9) An instance of ‘Truk’ being miss-spelled ‘Truck’ was fixed.
10) Updated weapons choice, long range capability and artificial intelligence code to reflect change of Beaufighter to fighter-bomber.
11) Beaufort and Hudson no longer upgrade to Beaufigter.

HOW TO GET YOUR PATCHES

If you are in the middle of playing a PBEM or into a long campaign you may want to wait before you update to the next version. I good idea is to watch the forums, backup your save files and remember the install will backup your current EXE when it installs the patch. You can find it in the main Uncommon Valor directory with a .bak at the end.

We know some of you have had some issues downloading the patches in the past. Please try using True Update first, if that does not work try our FTP server

Thanks for the update guys.

You promised AND delivered on an update yet again.

This is the most outstanding support I have witnessed for any piece of computer software I have ever purchased (which goes back to my first computer--an Atari 800 I owned in the early 1980's).

Well done and thank you!

I've tried all four of these.

The last two have nothing to offer you. The second one keeps kicking you out...and offers no port 21 option. And true update, once again, doesn't work.

Can't you just hide it in plain sight?

Worr, out

Will the Beaufighter change require a restart of PBEM games to take effect?

Well, yes, I think the ftp server is badly configured : you get this message when instead you should see "too many anonymous users, try again later", or something like that.

So, just try again later ;)

Oh, and yes, was about to forget : thanks Matrix for this nice and early Christmas present :)

Regards.

Hi,

the 404 / 503 error literally means that the FTP is busy. The links are working.

If the FTP is busy you will have to try again later or try to log in to our public FTP manually via an FTP client:

FTP login:

Host: ftp.matrixgames.com
Port: 21
Login: anonymous
Password: Your Email Address
FTP login:
use PASV mode

Or try www.fileplanet.com they host most of our patches.

been too busy playing to post, without UV the holidays would have been a disaster. Well, after all that, I notice that the bug complaints have all but dried up, surface combat is fantastic, air to air feels very right, it all feels good, I hope you guys at Matrix are feeling fine now, the game is good, very very good.
personally I wont be hurrying to download any more patches, as Im happy.

Well done Matrix, bring on WIP, and are there any plans for UV in the MED or other areas? (money burning in the pocket!!)

PS Beer is good:D

Yes it is good to see that the bugs seem to be drying up. :D As to what other areas this game engine could cover. Well do a search through the UV forums and see what turns up. ;)

"As to what other areas this game engine could cover".

It's been mentioned before but I would like to chime in one more time for adding way points to plot TF movements. The AI seems to do adequately in moving TFs under the curent system, but when things get hot and busy TF movements often need to be 'finessed' and that requires way point movement plotting.
