Yeah... I count 40 torpedo hits. One of the real problems, to me, is that there were only 40 torpedoes for the entire attack on the anchorage, but you can have 100%+ of those torpedoes hit on the ships in the harbor.

In my last few starts PH has been creamed, just flat out beat up on. I get 1 or 2 BB survivors at best, and the PBY's flame faster than flash paper.

This is with the RA mod, so I just take it with a grain of salt. It does keep the repair yards clear

The Dec 7 Surprise setting doesn't make much of an impact. While the Historical First Turn makes a big difference to PH damage.

You can even start a game with Historical First Turn Off, and then have the Allies turn it back on before running the turn.

I've run a bunch of first turn with various combinations and Dec 7 Surprise setting has mild damage, while the Historical First Turn makes the big difference in Ships and Plane losses. Not a statistically valid analysis, but the cause and effect correlation was very clear.

Don't know if this is a bug or working as designed.

Not a single BB sunk. I think only Pennsylvania is going to sink, and maybe Arizona and Nevada. So I don't think that was pretty good, just good.

Well, better than anything I have ever achieved.  I don't think I have ever match RL results for a real turn.  Testing?  Oh yeah, I can sink almost everything then.    But, once I go for the actual turn.  Blah.  The dice gods are against me.  So much for careful planning. 


So, nice turn.  Good start.  If I had this result, I would seriously consider a 2nd day.  The opportunity is there to put 5xBB's permanently out of the game with a shot at 4 others.  I'd have to consider if that would be worth +40 pilots ... maybe.  It conceivably forces the allied player to have to put fast BB's into his Amphib forces in '43 if I can get enough of these preWar BB's.  That means fewer bombardments and fewer distractions in CV battles.  Yeah, I'd think about it.

The truth is that the historical attack was about as successfull as posssible..., and way more effective than the Japanese had dared to hope. Virtually everything went the Japs way at PH except for the CV's not being there (and they knew that already). Anybody who sees the "historical" results as an "average result" is having a deluded pipedream.
