Battle of Port Moresby I intended to let 4th Div strike Port Moresby. Because, I knew that there were not his carriers near. His carriers were witnessed near Wake. However, he sent reinforcement to Port Moresby, too… 1/3/1942 Two xAK burnt by the bombing of the enemy. They are not saved. And I found his TF. I judged that his TF was weak. (However, this judgment was a mistake.) Then, I divided surface TF into two. I think that few ships is better at battle of the night of this game. I made a mistake. CL Kashima have included in (2)TF CL Kashima and CL Katori is very slow, but Since they were preceded by a battleship, I think there is no problem. 1/4/1942 Battle of Port Moresby War potential Allied Ships CA Pensacola, CA Australia, CA Canberra, CL Perth, two DDs Japanese Ships (1)BB fuso, BB yamashiro, CA furutaka, DD (2)CA Kako, CL Kashima, two DDs (3) Amphibious CL katori, DD Result Allied Ships 1 CA sink, 1 CL sink, 1 DD sink. 1 AM sink, 4 xAKLs shink Japanese Ships CA Furutaka half damage. 4 xAK sink (Including victims of bombing or landing) Damage was not small. However, Port Moresby is an important place. Some sacrifices are unavoidable. Do you know: 4th Div has long history(since 1888). Although 1888 became an army division, it is fighting from the time of Southwestern Rebellion. Moreover, it is famous as an army division of Osaka. Headquarters were near Osaka Castle. The building of headquarters still remains. I lived in Osaka for six years. Therefore, I like and employ 4th Div. There is the big graveyard of the army in Osaka Persons who belonged to many 4th Div is sleeping in “Sanadayama” graveyard of the army. “Yukimura Sanada” made the “yama(hill)” for the battle in 1614. Therefore, it is called the Sanadayama. The grave is a very important place to learn the history. I visited this grave to learn the history. This is a photograph at that time. --------------------------------------------------- Night Time Surface Combat, near Port Moresby at 98,132, Range 11,000 Yards Japanese Ships BB Fuso, Shell hits 3 BB Yamashiro, Shell hits 6 CA Furutaka, Shell hits 2, on fire DD Nenohi, Shell hits 1 Allied Ships CA Pensacola, Shell hits 3, on fire CA Australia, Shell hits 1, on fire CA Canberra, Shell hits 1 CL Perth, Shell hits 2, on fire DD Stuart DD Voyager, Shell hits 2 ---------------------------------------------------- Day Time Surface Combat, near Port Moresby at 98,132, Range 22,000 Yards Allied aircraft no flights Allied aircraft losses SOC-1 Seagull: 3 destroyed Seagull V: 1 destroyed Japanese Ships CA Kako, Shell hits 1 CL Kashima, Shell hits 1 DD Hatsushima DD Uzuki Allied Ships CA Pensacola, Shell hits 1, and is sunk CL Perth, Shell hits 7, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk DD Voyager, Shell hits 15, and is sunk ---------------------------------------------------- Night Time Surface Combat, near Port Moresby at 98,130, Range 10,000 Yards Japanese Ships BB Fuso BB Yamashiro CA Furutaka, on fire DD Nenohi Allied Ships AM Penguin, Shell hits 9, and is sunk xAKL Argus, Shell hits 10, and is sunk xAKL Kini, Shell hits 6, and is sunk xAKL Ngakuta, Shell hits 2 xAKL Pulganbar, Shell hits 1, and is sunk
