I kind of figured that was the Lord Admiral 'having him on'. I never took that as a serious bid. But Exxon barely held off a joint bid from a new partnership between Conoco-Phillips and Fila sportswear. Mercifully, the COP-'n-Fila project was upended.

At least that's the scuttlebutt.

Along these lines an 18 year old young man came in to the office with his Spanish-speaking, kind of old-world mom.

He was losing weight and, by report, had some terrible stuff coming out of his tailpipe for 3 months.

FAM: Hmm...I'm concerned. I'd like you to see a stomach specialist.

18 year old: What for?

FAM: We'd have to see what he advises. Most likely a colonoscopy.

18 year old: <looks at mom nervously> I..I..can't do that.

FAM: <I surmise there may be a degree of discomfort here. I ask the mom to excuse herself>...You seemed troubled by the notion of a colonoscopy. Can you tell me why that is?

18 year old: <now relaxed> Oh, I just don't want anyone sticking something up my butt.

FAM: Ah. Yes, I can see your point.....

Good News! Dwayne Hoover may get his Pontiac back!

USS Denver lives (84% flotation damage). As a matter of fact, none of the AP's or AK's struck yesterday sunk either, although two have decks nearly awash.

Started a new job last week and they gave me a nice widescreen i5 laptop with 8GB of RAM. They also gave me ,local admin rights but wasn't told don't install anything on it but you can put movies and music on it.

Finally I have a laptop that will run Civ 5 and the new XCom game. I'm in the office maybe 1 day a week and the laptop isn't audited.

That's BRILLIANT! If one Chinese guy can do the work of 6 westerners then we get him a copy of AE and we sign up for six games. Then we just post the one that is going the best. The lads will think us brilliant.

Plus, he won't have to look up where the Chinese bases are.

I thought you were joking about changing jobs. You will have a Gen X resume where you have to put the calender date on job changes, not just month/year. You can put the Ramree Operation and capture of Port Hedrand on there.

Shigure was a famous destroyer in real life, known as an "invincible" ship. Although eventually sunk in early 1945, she was the sole or nearly sole survivor of multiple battles. There was even a novel written about it called,"Sink the Shigure!"

Hirsute man: Hey, I just realized, it's March and I didn't get my W2.

Man in fine linen slacks: Yossarian, you crazy rule-following SOB, you are KIA. You don't get a W2 anymore.

Hirsute man: What about M&M Enterprises?

Man in fine linen slacks: Independant contractor, man. I sent you a 1099 to your executor.

Hirsute man: Executor?

Man in fine linen slacks: Yossarian, just trust me.

Hirsute man: Phht. Milo, you crazy SOB, I've known you too long. Would you trust yourself if you were me?

Man in fine linen slacks: That's recursive. Besides, what are they going to do? The government has declared you KIA, they can't very well put you in prison, can they?

Wasn't the Sumatra operation supposed to be at Padang? That's not far from Benkolen. Or was that called off in favor of the sprint through the Philippines?
