The last couple of days there has been a jet flying around NAS.

Can't get a good look at it but here is a description.

Small frame, looks about the size of an A-4

Delta wing, plane almost looks like a Delta Dart or Dagger

It has a single tail but can't tell anything about the ailerons.

Any guesses?

The F 106 only had a stabilizer at the rear... that's a real distinctive feature...

Maybe an F-21 Kfir? (An Israelis built plane that has in the past been used by Navy agressor squadrons).

These planes are currently flown by a contractor, Airborne Tactical Advantage Company, which provides threat simulations for the Navy.

Wow. Neat find. Didn't know we used the Kfir in aggressor training...

In the 80's Israel offerred the Navy a "offer they couldn't refuse" deal. A free lease on a bunch. Just pay for maintainance.

I think that might be the plane. Hoping the weather clears and I can get a good look at it. Thanks!

I'm surprised they're still flying...

I've actually seen Kfir's at Oceana NAS as well back in the 80's and early 90's. There were two of them working with a pair of Tomcats right over my Aunt's subdivision. I got to watch the whole thing.
