Few months of lurking and I've decided to make an account. I first saw DW while browsing about, looking for a decent 4X to occupy my time. When I saw some gameplay footage and looked at the features list, my jaw just dropped. I haven't been able to buy the game yet, but hopefully with the release of Shadow's I'll be able to purchase the whole package. I've been able to play the game infrequently, and from what I've experienced, any other investment would be ludicrous. Looking at the list of updates added by each expansion, I'll admit most of my complaints are stifled. The only issue/idea that I'd like to raise would be pre-game map customization. Obviously the map is randomly generated, but I've always been nagged by the desire to edit a particular cluster of stars before starting the game. I don't know if the devs have considered this, but it's just a thought. My idea was that you'd "generate" a galaxy map with the galaxy viewed from the editor perspective. Once you're finished fiddling with the canvas of star systems and anomalies, you are taken to the race selection screen, and from there you can be placed in your desired star system while the other empires are randomly scattered across. This is easier said than done, but it'd add a ton more to the game. Another minor feature I'd like to see explored/considered would be the hard-code modification of the game. I'd like to see ridiculously overpopulated planets disregarding planet quality, although I'm not sure if the limit is impossible to remove even if we had access to more parts of the game. Finishing my rant, I'm Quantumwinter.
