I've seen this mentioned in a few threads, and thought I'd ask.

Do captured bases revert to their original Port and AF value upon capture?

If so, when did this start? Was it in a patch description and I missed it?

Just wondering . . . . .

From the manual, page 54.

"At the instant a base is captured from the enemy, construction defaults to the same value as at the beginning of a scenario."

I don't know if this is a change from prior to V.2, however.

If you capture a level 3 port or a level 4 airfield, they do not revert to the level at the begining of the scenario. Instead, you get the airfield or port at whatever size it is currently at with whatever damage it has accumulated. Only fortifications revert to size zero. The manual is probably saying (i don't have it at hand) that the items being built when you capture it will default to what they would have at the start. This could mean, for example, that the airfield, port and fortifications are all being built and that you will need to stop building the port and fortifications if all you want to expand is the airfield.

Hmmm... I think you are right. The manual is a little unclear, but I seem to remember that when I recaptured Gili Gili I didn't have to start at a size 0 airfield, rather it was the size 1 airfield the Japanese had been so kind as to clear for me.

Probably what the passage means is any ongoing work % is loss at the moment of capture.

Cool. Thanks guys.

I admit, I haven't really looked at the new version of the manual, so I figured it was quite possible something changed that I didn't notice.
