Tried a search and looked in the manual and checked the 'whats changed' notes - nada. Cant find when underway AE replenishment 'unlocks' - manual just says 'late war'. I am in March of 1944 and its not working - still need to be in a port. So when's 'late war'? Sep 1945?

At what point should it unlock?

Also, is it only up to 5" like WitP, or is it limited only by supply and capacity? (ie. as long as theres enough supply, you can reload 16" or whatever else)

Thanks in advance

Chad

So you've gotta keep running back to a 7 port, back and forth if you wanna keep shelling an enemy base. Would it be a good idea, once you're done your bombardment runs, to put the ships of the bombardment TF into your amphibious TF? After you've replenished their 16" guns of course. I know when you do that they just serve as covering/suppressing fire for the landing, but they would use all of their guns/ammo wouldn't they?

AE/AKE port replenishment is still possible for the big guns. It just takes a lot of supply and reload can take a few days. For places like the Central Pacific, bringing along a few AE/AKEs to anchor at a nearby base hex can allow more frequent bombardment.

Or lower level ports with AKEs and Naval support...look at the manual.

Thanks for the replies. Still looking at it. It's the size of a novel.

It is.. the appendix area is very very useful. Take the time to study it. I didn't and always had questions...poured through it, and now it really makes since.

Thanks!

w/ adequate supply & navsupport, smaller forward bases do very well to re-arm BBs. but you'll need larger-size AEs disbanded in these ports to re-arm 16" shells, the smaller AKEs can't provide them. there's a new button in the port-view screen (mebbe it's only the recent betas) for "Reload Tenders at this base". It's v. handy to resupply your auxiliaries w/ this button, you don't have to create & load SupportTFs to re-fill them.

in the late-game, the Allies have mongo unrep support - AOs, AEs, & CVEs w/ VRF replacement airgroups. USN CV TFs can remain at sea indefinitely, while their ReplTFs shuttle back for a refill.
