Have you ever had your opponent surrender just when things are getting interesting? Have you not had a PBEM get to '43, or even past late summer '42? Do you really want to see what will happen later in the war? I know that I can answer yes to all of the above.

So here is what I'm looking to do. I want to take over "surrendered" games and keep the fight going! Will probably AAR some of these too, we'll see. I'd prefer the allied side for two reasons: 1. Japan production could be a total mess, and that is not something that can be fixed well on the fly 2. More room for error as allies, an error earlier in the war is not a complete game killer. I will still consider IJN games too.

Please let me know if you want to carry on your games!

An interesting approach to gaming! I too have never gone past May of '42 and would find it interesting, but right now I'm dealing with late February and my time is tied up... but interesting offer! Let us know if someone takes you up on it. Hal

I'd like to endorse Andrew (satisfaction) as one of the toughest, most tenacious and capable players I've ever been truly mauled by. He doesn't post very much , hence he may not be that well known. He is very, very good. Besides , it's the quiet ones you've got to watch out for!

Thanks Steve! Always good to have references, that's for sure. Hope to post more if this idea takes off, will definitely do an AAR of some kind. If I get multiple offers then the AARs can keep me straight, or make me crazy.

A very good idea. I hope it works for you.

The forum structure is pretty set, but I think it would be a great idea for a sticky or permanent forum home for orphan PBEM games and gamers looking to go on with a step-parent.

Think a sticky or area to find step parents (great term) for games would be awesome. I'm very encouraged by these responses so far, no game yet but a good start no less.

The sticky area is getting to be an over-grown shrubbery. Perhaps the mods could look at (northern hemisphere) spring pruning.

Failing that, perhaps a bumped thread with several dedicated bumpers could stand in. I myself would be interested in taking a 1943-44 game over just as a vacation from the endless penny-pinching of 1942.

BUMP. Also I'll be checking out WitP sites in SE Asia for the next few weeks, so if there are any takers I'll be back near the end of the month. Hope to find my first opponent for this idea!

Are you going to the PI? I may be heading there in a few weeks.

Cheers,

No PI this time around. Tokyo, Hong Kong and all over Vietnam. Think I'll take the hop to Manila in August to do Corregidor. Still looking for takers!

Wow late Jan 42 and the IJ already walked away? I've got a Japan game going right now, exact same time. Going to have to pass on this one as need my focus on my main game and both at exactly the same point is going to get right confusing, now make that 43 or 44 and that might be appealing. Sorry, hate to do this on first offer! Still looking though.................

I might be willing to take that over, though... I think you and I might be of comparable knowledge levels, HexHead.

Lokasenna & I are gearing up with my late Jan 42 game - the abandonment was my fault, for the record.

Lokasenna (IJ) has PM and a fair+ position.
