Hi, I'm trying to modify the Market-Garden scenario (Holland - A Bridge Too Far 1944) to simulate what could have happened if they used two airdrops in the first day. The problem I'm running into is I want to drop the UK 1st Airlanding Brigade and the 1st Para Brigade on the first turn, and the 4th Para on the second. I can drop the 1st AL BDE fine but then I load up the 1st Para, which loads fine but I can't drop it anywhere on the map. I can load the 4th and drop that but I want to switch them. Not sure what I need to do to accomplish this. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Is it because once loaded it won't 'fly' thru a hex that is already at the stacking limit ? If this is the case, you need to relocate those units, or relocate some of the units that are stacked nine high already. Another option would be to remove the 4th Brigades units, then change their arrival to turn 2 (because I think you said that you wouldn't drop them until turn 2).

He wrote he can't drop them anywhere on the map so apparently it is not the overstacking problem. Dunno what is then.

Because the Allied player has no Air Transport Capacity on turn 2. See attached pic. You would need to change this in the event editor.

Bull's eye, now I can remember perfectly when I was playing this scenario as my first PBEM ever, as the Allied player and the limitations imposed on the air drops. I think that was because of the weather historically bad on the second day of operation.

BTW, did You get in touch with Erik to secure his consent to rework the original scenario? His are great, but each one has a flaw, I used to sty in touch with him, but then he apparently ceased to respond for some reason.

Guys,

It has nothing to do with the Air Transport Capacity on turn 2. He cannot drop 1st para on turn 1.

Steve (sPzAbt653) is correct. The units can be loaded but not dropped because they cannot travel through a hex that is already stacked to the max. It is down to the positioning of the units on their original hexes.

However, Stefan is also correct that there is no air transport capacity on turn 2.

Ftroop6,

You will need to reposition 1st para so that it is on the first rank (the one nearest the map) and then mod the events to give air transport on turn 2 for your plan to work.

Best wishes,
Steve (no, the other one)

Burroughs,

I think he is modding it for his own benefit. There is nothing wrong with that.

Best wishes,
Steve

OK, thanks everyone. I discovered that it is the fact that, once loaded, the 1st Para units can't go through the hexes occupied by the 4th Para, directly to their east because of the stacking limit. I don't know how to change the deployment hex because in the formation report it is not a selectable button. How do I change this? otherwise I have to move a 4th Para unit out of the way at the beginning of the turn so 1st can fly through. Not a huge problem, but if I can fix it I would like to. I have been able to figure out the events editor enough to modify the air transport for subsequent turns.
I am only modifying the scenario for my own benefit because I have been fascinated by this battle ever since I first saw "A Bridge Too Far." The two lifts in the first day was an option that they decided not to employ. I've already modified the scenario once, dropping right on the bridges with success (as long as XXX Corps keeps driving and doesn't get sidetracked fighting too much along the way.)
Any help is greatly appreciated from this novice scenario maker (for the most part the events editor still mystifies me...)

For units that are already on-map, you have to remove them. Then you can place them in another hex, or schedule them to arrive at another hex. In this specific case, you could move one unit out of each max-stacked hex and put it in hex 1,12.
