Hey Rompa and welcome to the game! Always nice to see another Meatball on the forum! :D :D Your first question specifies, I think, the same questions any player goes through every time he purchases his weapons of destruction. I mostly go by experience, after some time you get the "feel" for how certain tanks behave in combat. :) You can always look at the unit cost vs. survivability, fire control, range, size (harder to spot and hit), armor, pen values of the gun, etc etc etc. There's so much that makes up what is a 'tank' in the game. It's also of great importance what you're up against! Vs. Soviets - SO units are sensitive to suppression, i.e. tanks that can deliver alot of ordnance onto a target will be great. Early year (-42), you'll do fine with a heap of PzIII's with support of heavier guns and PzIV. Later, you gonna need those cats! And, due to size and fire control, a StuG is almost always worth it's money. :D (hint: a PzII can be deadly in close range, but it's armor is less than good) Gun team and Mule packs do the same thing - they carry stuff around the battlefield. (look at the load/carry values). A Barge carrier does just that - only useful if you need to cross large bodies of water.
