I dont understand how automatic retrofit works.

I have done some research and I have now new design available in the design screen. For example my last LSP-6 design now have some fighter bays. But strangely, my LSP seems to be stuck in its old LSP-1 design, if I do not tell him manually to retrofit, it does not retrofit, whereas everything is set in auto.

Initially I was thinking of a money issue, but no it is not that, I have lot of money.

Could it be ressources related? Could someone give me a clue of how it works please.

EDIT: Also, I have never seen a prompt message to inform me of the retrofit possibility (when I research a new component). I suppose it is normal as in the empire policy screen, all ship/base type are set to be automaticly retrofited.

Do you have suggest on ship and base building?

I think the "auto retrofit" is about the "retrofit all ships and bases" prompt. If they have auto retrofit, they will retrofit after this, if not, they won't. And this prompt probably depends on that 'suggest' setting.

I may be mistaken, though, I am no big fan at approving that prompt.

Thanks Bingeling for the reply.

No I have nothing on 'suggest'. I like to play with everything in 'manual', except the 'ship design'. In Legends when a new component was researched, I was used to have a prompt box message asking me if I wanted to retrofit base or ships. I cant figure how to prompt this box in Shadows, whereas in my empire policy screen it is checked.

It is quite confusing because I have new designs, everything is set in auto-retrofit, and even after some long time, nothing happen, my ships do not retrofit, neither my bases nor my fleet ships.

I am missing something, but I dont see what.

EDIT: I was thinking initially to something related to ressource shortages, but not sure as I do not have any message of shortage.

That prompt will not appear unless you have ship building on Suggest. That worked the same way in Legends as far as I know.

So ships will not auto retrofit unless you have this prompt turned on?

If all automation is turned off, then automatic retrofit will also not happen. If you have advisors or full automation turned on, either of those will allow automatic retrofits to happen. If you have everything set to manual, you can multi-select through the ships and bases screen and use the Retrofit button there for mass retrofits.

Regards,

- Erik

I agree with Erik. If I have things on manual, they better not retrofit on their own. One reason is that retrofits can be expensive. And in shadows, money can be sparse if you set things up correctly/wrongly.

Here are some screens of my settings :

And here you can see my LSP, still stuck in LSP-1 design for quite a long time, whereas I have a LSP-8 design available :

Thank Erik for the help.

So, if I understand well, my ships do not retrofit automaticly because my setting of 'ship building' is set on 'control manually', is it correct?

I agree that with the way those options show, you should get the prompt since you have automated designs. I never read the fine print :)

Putting ship and base building on suggest is not a whole lot of spam, the odd base and ship build suggestion that can safely be ignored.

Yes, Ship Building should be set to suggest to enable the advisors to trigger the automatic retrofitting.
