Air losses from the previous day. We slaughtered the vals the previous day so they throw Kates and Bettys at us.

Looks liek some Tojos and Nells are getting trashed on the ground at Rangoon.

The problem with Kyushu is the LYB's can walk over from Honshu and every geisha is likely to have an exploding bustier or something. I'm sure it's like stepping on a fire ant colony.

It's still April 43 and we have only two CV's. I will have to look up what happens when you land on Kyushu. Probably reserves pop up everywhere. Don't think we have enough infantry divisions yet..or fighters.

Of course, division after division being of the LYB's shipped down from Manchuria to attack a Korean lodgement is not that appetizing either.

Yes. The Japanese player gets beaucoup accelerated reserves if you land on the home islands. Plus, all of the restricted infantry divisions on the home islands will have something to do with their time now-getting railed into the beachhead is a given.

So...you don't have enough amphibious naval air support, not enough troops, not enough fighters and not enough suppries? Meh. Go ahead-invade Kyushu in 1943 anyways. What could possibly go wrong?

9,000 Arried vs. 54,000 LYB's at Manira. If THEY attack US do we get the urban terrain bonus?

What to do?

1) Bombardment tonight.

2) Fighter sweep with P-38's and then air to ground attacks tomorrow with the B-24 and maybe mediums from San Jose.

2) Cross the hexside from the SE with the armor there, buttoning the LYB's up from the South.

4) Get some construction engineers in there to build forts and then start the long seige.

I think it would be a mistake for them to attack with our Shermans and Stuarts and the supply consumption it would entail.

We also need to free up some PP's to release the "lost" regiments of 24th, 25th ID and Americal.

Yes. IIRC, Manira is "light urban" (Clark is heavy) and therefore a 1.5x defensive modifier.

Bomb Manira? Your bombs better not hit Papa Marcos' corner store, residence and brothel! Mrs. M. just spent three days arranging her shoes in the closet in the order she will wear them for the next three years.

***********Pranning**********

JJ marched a portion of his troops at Clark into Iba. 2 units, identity unkown. An attack is likely. So far, we have only about 400 paratroops there and some aviation support guys (26 assalut points). This is bad. The one day delay when 21st Marine stopped to refuel the escorts an do some sportfishing was crucial. 21st Marine and a USN base support unit are embarked aboard a mixed APA, AP, AK group on station at Iba. They arrived at the end of the day and have not started to unload yet.

All may not be lost because the attack won't come till the end of the turn. Some of 21st Marine will get ashore. Those potions aboard the two APA's should be completely ashore. In addition, most of the assualt infantry of 7th Australian Div is aboard a fast, mostly APA convoy 160 mi SW of Iba. They will brave the sub screen and head for Iba instead of Loag. If there is no surface raid and they dont get held up by the subs they may partly get ashore as well. A BB is detached from the Wasp taffy to aid Massachusetts at Iba.

Most of the airplanes were moved to Lingayen or Batangas but a squadron of SBD's will stay to deal with any surface threats. SBD's and TBF's from Luzon and TBF's from San Jose will be se tto ground attack.

B-24's hit JJ ground troops at Manira. Carriers take up station NW of Iba.

Could be exciting.

Forgive me for forgetting and not skimming back through five thousand posts or so, but does the IJN still posses Musashi or Yamato?

Yamato sunk by SBD's operating from that little island north of Darwin during the battle for Darwin.

Musashi was beat up badly by USS Washington as I recall.

There could well be Jap BB's at Iba tonight. That is what the two fast USN BB's are for. Even so, we are a bit thin. That's why it's fun.

I should add that JJ still has carriers as well.

I Have checked my email about 10x already this AM. Quite pitiful, really.

I had a dream I borrowed a small fishing boat and it started to leak so I dove in to see what was wrong. That's when I noticed the "hull" was made of wicker and I could see the sky through the hull.

Anyone know what this means?

Very good show on the part of the Arries here. A better than even exchange.

Right...maybe it was some kind of reference to Thor Heyerdahl...by Odin! He was in WWII(a) or maybe it was (b). Here is Ra II. Not really wicker, more like reeds, but it does have a rising sun on the sail. Odd..... Ra I sunk...maybe it was wicker?

Meanwhile in unnoticed in the hubbub we captured Mykitkina. Which is not easy to type after a bottle of Chateau de Chasselas.

The Marines won't land ...its John Wayne movie night. They are watching the great war flick "Reunion in Paris". They should be good and &%^**& off tomorrow though.

If the Marines don't land to help the 503rd I will be, as ALSP might say, "very cross".

Middle of the night in the UK. Admirar Rord Fabertong runs the turns.....it seems I will have to wait even longer.

Oops. Should of read all of the posts before responding. Anyway Kon Tiki is in the theaters this week. Balsa wood rafts work some much better in the Pacific

Let's see. 8 hr time difference....even if he works for the government and can sneak out the back by 3:30 PM...he can't be home much sooner than 4:00PM...5 minutes to make sure the kids aren't playing with a loaded hunting rifle or something..15 minutes to run the turn...5 minutes to upload.

That does it. I'm not looking at my email until 08:25. Hey, I could get ready for work? Maybe be on time for once?
