After years away from WITP I pulled out my AE version and installed on my new computer. I'm running Windows 8.

I'm running it from the desktop shortcut with switches as follows
-w -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders –cpu4 –multiaudio

It opens in a window as it should, but the graphics are centered in my monitor. When I expand the window I get a screen that looks like this. Any ideas?

When you go to the map it will use the whole window.

I can't get to the map. This is as much of the control panel as I see. There is no scrolling or tabbing to the controls that are off screen.

Okay, made progress. I removed the -px and -py switches I can now get enough of the screen to launch into the game. Unfortunately, the bottom of the screen is cut off. I can just barely select the units along the bottom, with most of the icons being cut off. Oddly, if I don't run it in window mode (-w) the resolution switches to 1720 or something that is completely off my screen.

I have tried messing around with my monitors resolution. I'm using a 32" HDTV for a monitor. I've tried scaling it. None of that seems to work.

Thoughts anyone?

Try adding the -dd_sw switch and reinstate the -px and -py switches.

Thanks T for the suggestion. That didn't seem to make a big difference. This is what I am seeing now. Now how the strategic map is cut off at the bottom. If I select a base half of the aircraft unit icons are cut off (bottom half) and I cannot see a list of the land units at all.

Sorry about the over sized graphic. I forgot to decrease the size before I posted.

Have you tried it with the -f switch instead of -w?

The only way I can get the full screen mode to work at all is if I take out the -dd_sw and -px -py switches. When I do this is the way the game appears. I see about 1/4 of the control pannel and it fills the screen. Obviously it is trying to render under some other resolution.

I have finally discovered the resolution. It was ridiculously simple. In compatibility options select "Disable Scaling on High DPI systems".

Right-click the AE shortcut you have on the desktop, select the line at the bottom that says "Properties", then select the "Compatibility" tab.

Now for the next question.

The whole WitP screen fits on the monitor, but it only takes about 1/2 of the whole monitor.

I am going blind and have a 36" TV as a monitor. Actually close enough my nose some times touches it ....

How can I get more of the WitP screen to fill up the monitor?

I do have the -wd switch installed.

If you want full screen try -fw instead -wd.

If you want full screen try -fw instead -wd.

It's -fd, for full display. e.g. -fd -px1680 -py1050 -archive -altFont -deepColor -skipVideo –dd_sw I'd recommend, depending on your video resolution.

Klink, Oberst
