This may be "Working as Designed", but i just thought i would check.

When there is a river hex side between my artillery formation and the enemy city that i am bombarding, the amount of dammage seems to be much less than when there is no river.

So it seems like the code related to reducing attack strength when attacking over a river is getting applied to artillery barrages.

If this is intended, then all is well. If not, then i can provide a save file for you to look at.

Artillery fire is not influecned by rivers. Did you use the combat detail screen to check the exact modifiers applied?

In general i advise everybody with questions about calculations to first check the combat detail screen. In a running game to get your own modifiers or in a test game with FOW off to get all modifiers.

best,
Vic

There are no negative modifiers for attacking the units in the city, so that looks correct.

But i don't see any viewable calculations in there about the structural damage, which is what the question is about.

I just rechecked the code and no rivers are taken into account for str.dammage.

However if there are any bridges in the same hex part of the structural dammage will be applied to them. This might cause the location to actually receive less dammage point than a comparable location not next to a river.

hope this helps.

best,
Vic

OK, that's it then. the bridges soak up some of the damage.

Do bridges have an auto-repair rate similar to cities?

AFAIK no. Meaning I have never seen it happening.
