Hi,

I have an annoying issue with the game since the release of Shadows extension.
Very often while playing (every 3-10 minutes) the screen suddenly scrolls from where i was to the upper left corner of the map. When it happens i cannot stop this scrolling. Sometimes "saving as" solves the problem (for a few minutes only) but most of the time i have to quit the game.

This bug may have happened just a few times before. But since Shadows it's constant and barely playable.

Could it be caused by my mouse ? I have a Deathadder (old model, not black or 2013). My pilot version is 3.05 so up to date. And i have no problem with my mouse in any other game i play.
Or could it come from something else?

Would someone have an idea please? It's really annoying.

Thank you.

I am seeing exactly the same issue, on all versions including the most recent 1.9.0.6 .

Sometimes I also see a yellow "ping" circle around the top left corner of the map, at the top left corner of box A1.
It scrolls up there whether I'm locked or unlocked on an object, and I usually start to see this about 65-75% of the way through a game, judged by Victory Conditions.

I have no joystick or other input device hooked up other than the mouse, which is a basic Microsoft optical.

Hi there

Not sure why you're seeing that.

DW is meant to scroll left/right/up/down when you move the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen. So maybe you have some other software that might be modifying mouse movement? (e.g. snap to window settings, etc)

Or maybe you need to lower mouse sensitivity in Control Panel?

Another possibility is that your mouse sensor might be blocked by some dust/hair/etc, and thus needs a clean.

I had this kind of mouse hardware reset from a brocken mouse cable. Do you have it only in DW ?

I don't believe it's a mouse issue because I can see that the mouse cursor acting normally while the map is scrolling. And this wouldn't explain the yellow ping circle I see at the upper left corner of zone A1.

One other thing that I noticed while this is happening... I can go into Diplomacy and select "Negotiate a trade proposal...", at the time of map scrolling I cannot pull any items down to the Offered Items sections on either the NPC or my side of the trade screen. I have to save the game, then the scrolling will stop for a little while and normal trading is resumed. If I save and exit, then re-enter the game and load the saved game, the game will behave for a much longer duration before the scrolling issue happens again.

Again, this issue only happens for me quite deep into a game. Also it seems to happen more often when running 4X speed, but in my last game I played I went all the way with 1X speed and still had this scrolling issue about 80% of the way to the end of game.

I had a laptop that did the very same thing, I had an external mouse attached via USB but the laptop also had a mousepad(?) one of those flat rectangular inbuilt mice things, drove me up the wall as every now and again scrolling would magically happen and when it did certain other functions of the current game I was playing would become unresponsive as you have described I thought by plugging in an external mouse the laptop would switch off the mousepad(?) but it didn't, didn't think to look at the internal mouse for the reason I have mentioned for a few months, turned out there was a problem with the calibration of that mousepad(?) and that was, for me, the problem. Fixed it by disabling it from the hardware settings on the machine.

Sorry to necro, but I solved this issue by updating my mouse driver. I have a razor naga and for some reason the generic microsoft mouse driver was being used. After updating the screen scrolling to top left has disappeared. Before it was happening every 2 minutes.
