Captain Mu-Shoo: Not that we all drink 1 garron tea, we stand here for 30 minutes and hord it.

Cadet Paper-wrapped Chicken: Uhhhhhh...ahhhh.

Captain Mu-Shoo: Cadet, you wash out. You infantry.

2nd Lt. Hsieh has 479 missions and he is still a 2nd Lt. Even if he hasn't shot anything down you would think he would make 1st Lt just on seniority. He was probably flying a Russian biplane for most of the missions.

Also pretty funny that I suggested ALSP convert to P-40E's and the day after we do (or maybe a couple of days..not really sure) they bomb the airfield and we are still gluing on the wings and stuff.

Honestly, it's hard to generate enthusiasm for the Chinese theater. The only important thing is that hundreds of thousands of experience 90+ Japanese troops don't find free time on their hands.

The BB's. North Carolina and Massachusetts need dock time but no dry dock after their unispired fight with Kirishima. Weeks to a month I would guess.

Washington has some problem with B turret. The union boss in Darwin claims they need 3 days more. Something about seniority.

South Dakota has been clawed back from artificial reef status. She is still at San Jose. She needs about 9 days more then she can start the long trip back to California.

Colorado just left LA. Maryland just left Alameda. I think PoW is at Colombo but she is going to be out a while. Resolution just left Perth for Diego Garcia.

There are 3 BB's at Pearl that should be ready in time for the H-bomb test at Bikini Atoll.

The fact that they were recently using Oscar Ia aircraft over Luzon speaks to their failure at research. For some reason, they have screwed the pooch on aircraft R&D and production. Dunno why...

Summary:

Kuma may be finished.

Kirishima will probably reach safety unless we find her with subs.

The SBD squadrons are burnt out. Very heavy losses to attacking WJD aircraft.

Heavy air losses. 3:1 in our favor but a fair number of fairly experienced SBD crews lost.

Kirishima...will she or won't she? It seems neither side has operational BB's right now in the PI battle. Washington made no progress with her B-turret. The welders had worked 4 days in a row. It's almost like someone is trying to make the war LAST LONGER. Crazy idea..but I can't shake it.

Just noticed that something with Petes was probably sunk last turn (judging from ground losses). Does Kuma have seaplanes?

Washington made no progress with her B-turret. The welders had worked 4 days in a row. It's almost like someone is trying to make the war LAST LONGER. Crazy idea..but I can't shake it.

Did the small print under the name of the welding company say "A division of M&M Worldwide Enterprises"?

they may be his Ida's and Sonia's withdrawn from China theater. I confess I still have them going, even now in late 1942...

PI: I'm guessing this is actually Kuma. Anyway, we miss. Kirishima seems to have made good her escape unless we can spot her and revector the subs. These are TBF's forward deployed to Vigan.

After the drubbing yesterday, all WJD air on Luzon seems to take the day off. I think they are very short on bombers too.

Morning Air attack on TF, near Laoag at 82,70

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid spotted at 11 NM, estimated altitude 18,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 4 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61-Ia Tony x 8

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 1
P-39D Airacobra x 8
TBF-1 Avenger x 12

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
TBF-1 Avenger: 1 destroyed, 4 damaged

Japanese Ships
CL Tama, on fire, heavy damage
DD Harusame

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x TBF-1 Avenger bombing from 15000 feet
Naval Attack: 2 x 500 lb SAP Bomb

Nope - Tama was the one in this combat report from your attacks on Kirishima:

Japanese Ships
BB Kirishima, Bomb hits 1, heavy fires
CL Tama, Bomb hits 2, on fire
DD Onami
DD Harusame, Bomb hits 1, on fire
DD Teruzuki, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage

I noticed you called it Kuma right after the action, but thought it could have been wrong in the combat report from FOW. This second attack seems to corroborate Tama.

Just noticed that something with Petes was probably sunk last turn (judging from ground losses). Does Kuma have seaplanes?

What makes you think that's not Kirishima?
