And why?

(Maybe we had a thread like this before?)

I like to play Humans, but they seem too "nice" and everyone likes them.
I have played the Kiadians, but I tend to turtle too much with them & then my advanced tech's make the game too easy.
I've also enjoyed playing the Insectoid races, but in my last game the Shakturi event triggered and I couldn't decide with side to take!

I tend to play as the Ackdarians, though I guess they're considered one of the easier, more straightforward races to play. I like their ship models, as they're very streamlined and beautiful, and I like the extra bonus to ship size.

I typically set them to Monarchy for government. Using Republic/Democracy gives too much of a combined tech bonus I find, whereas Monarchy is flat for research but still makes sure the bugs hate you. There's something about an epic war between amphibians and insects that amuses me...

Humans are nice.. they're pretty diplomatic, yes. I rarely play them, but then aim for a New Systems Commonwealth (from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) kind of scenario with them

I don't destroy empires, just play the good guy.

If I want a relaxing game, I usually play the Teekans. Even with a generally hard setup, they can practically buy the whole Galaxy. All of their Bonuses, the Other section and special government (Mercantile Guild) are serving one purpose: get riches...!

With faster cosntruction, higher migration rate and unmatched Civilian fleet they can secure conquered colonies much faster.
Larger civilian ships makes PreWarp expansion easier, because you don't have to cripple the cargo space on Freighters to add the warp drive and reactors.
Even though they have smaller military ships, with that much income and faster construction they can build and maintain at least twice as much ships as any other race.
They can almost constantly crash research until tech level 3-4.
Also 50% of their race-specific victory conditions are trivial: Start the Fewest Wars (25%), Highest Private Revenue (25%)

They're the ultimate race for me.

I like Zenox for the tech bonus and shields and, uh... space cats.

No I mean space cats since they're clearly described as Feline.

(I know they're given the "rodent" classification for some reason, I complained about it in the original release but I guess they didn't feel like changing it)

I play the Phaerox insectoid race from the distant world expanded mod... i think its called that way... a lot as a Military Dictatorship to make it more difficult. My ongoing game is kinda crazy with 1400 starts varied clusters. My tiny 13 colonies small Military state is surrounded by 2 f***ing large Republiks and a Quameno Techno Empire who all hate me ;D they are constantly declaring war on me. Maybe i should stop enslaving there people ;-)

I usually play the eggheads. I like the science boost along with the more robust (personal kits are better? - its not their bodies...) troops.

I like to play random with random government, especially with the DW Extended mod. I like having to experience something new or having to switch up some of my strategies every time I start up a game.

When I first looked at Zenox, I thought they are goats.
When I look at their race species, I saw "Rodent". I was like WTF
When I looked at their race description, I saw "Feline". I was like WTF
Seriously, Whoever designed Zenox, he is good at ****ing my mind lol

Back to Topic, I generally play Human in my first game of the expansion/patch for roleplaying propose.
Then I usually play Teekan for peaceful game or Motalu for all-out-war game (DoW everyone I see no talking, no trading, no peace XD)

Dayut, Sluken when I want some challenge (these bug races aren't any good at anything other than warfare in the early game).
Favorite races otherwise are Quameno, Zenox and Gizureans.

I like the Ikkuro - muscle for ground conflict, decent economy, decent science and the repair robot early. Very straight forward to play to their strengths.

If I want to fight all the time, then the Gizureans. The fast growth allows virtually unlimited troops and a good economy although they tend to lack in early science (catch up latter as their pop grows). Everyone hates them so it is easy to kill them off and eat the dead. At that point, I usually build heavy offensive ships with not very strong defense and go right at the throat (hey, they only have one brain, right?).

The Sluken are another good war race but for later in the game. You can build early, expand, then attack everyone in sight.
