this time Morvael was better then me to inflict russian losses
I lost my 7th leader : Materna (XX corps)

It's clearly a good turn for the SHC. He can afford such losses, you cannot.

Can we have a view of the OOB?

I cannot afford such losses infinitely (my arm and manpower pools go down each turn), but I think I can afford them longer than cpt flam, and that's the plan for now. Worthy of Soviet Union brilliant strategists

Dear cpt flam, dear morvael,

Great late game AAR. Thank you about that.

What sort of beautiful maps did you use and where can I get it?
Is it necessary that both of you are using the same sort of such map?

Late? I think it's only midgame now :)

All information and download links to the new map are here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3327255

It's not necessary for both players to use it.

I lack vehicles, this takes a lot of MP from my units. I advance too slow at this time to win, perhaps this will change.

When this AAR will be up to turn 111, I will post a nice map with all fronts described as to their composition (armies, leaders) and numbers (men, guns, afvs, planes).

I built just 4 for Mech Corps. There was a moment when a lot of units were using heavy tanks (tank brigades, corps) and the production was low. Also the first IS will be low produced. Once higher production will kick in I will build more heavy tank SUs. For now I'm building Lt SU SUs for Rifle Corps and Med SU SUs for Cav and Tank Corps. The 4 Mech Corps got 4 Heavy SU SUs.

At least you have Tigers and StuGs to equip one panzer division plus StuHs for two :)

Currently it looks like I am losing my entire T-34 production per week, so your tank hunters are doing good job.

edit: I know you can't use those Tigers due to how the game works, it's a shame. However from September you should start recieving those nice shiny Panthers A in significant numbers. Already I can see that your armored forces are the only one that see strength increase. Number of men, guns and planes fall down steadily but the AFVs go up (+1100 since April).

Since we have now completed turn 115, and cpt flam will probably soon post info about turn 111, I have attached map of the entire front. The image is big so I'm not embedding it into post.

On my turn 111 two German divisions were encircled (and later destroyed), one in Vyazma and one in Crimea.

Crimea was training ground for 4th Tank Army. Fresh units, especially Mech Corps are terribly bad units when just created.

Nothing to be proud of here, I wasted a lot of AP in this game early on, had to build rifle corps in 42 due to need and lack of vehicles, so didn't have much free to spend on arty divs. Now that corps count is ok, I'm going to focus more on arty divs. I have one for a long time and I'm now building second.

going back to a comment you made a while back. The truck situation is obviously hampering your MPs, is that now so bad as to really undermine your ability to mount a large scale offensive?

This is a combination of vehicles, but also of medicore leaders (with just a few exceptions - most good ones bite the dust) and morale. This is also very random so you can't really plan for contingency.

Vehicles are the simplest part of the equation, they reduce MP and supplies (strength) in non-random way, so at least here I can expect some things and be on guard. The worst moment was 84% unit need coverage and 68% pool need coverage in December '42 (even though from September '42 I didn't build any mech/tank units because I knew I will be "in the red" soon). Currently I'm running on 95%/92%.

Failed leader admin rolls are main source of MP reduction, while low morale means costs of entering enemy ZOC and enemy controlled hexes are higher than for the Germans and this slows me down.

This also depends on wheter you are able to put your best units (highest morale) with best leaders (admin 6+) in best HQs (Shock Armies) to have a decent, dependable in the mobility department, force at the risk of having a lot of crap everywhere else. I have a balanced build army, also due to the fact that I don't have APs to reassign best corps units and best leaders. Risk factor is also important here - I'm not willing to advance with just a pair of lucky (high MP this turn) units, while leaving majority behind. If you are willing to do it, perhaps better results can be achieved. But vulnerable units will be punched in the face by panzers and they will lose morale and cease to be dependable veterans. Morale is king, so I'm now just doing slow and safe deliberate attacks to build it up (from 45-50 to 58-60). Sometimes I have an 18CV corps start with just 8MP and this will ruin my plan for that army for the turn (and partially for the armies on the left and right), sometimes those corps will have 12-15MP resulting in an advance, victorious combat and sometimes even another advance, especially if part of units didn't take part in the attack). cpt flam is defending stubbornly for now, but this will drain his armament pool and/or manpower soon and he will have to change his tactics. Meanwhile I'm content with slow advance and building up morale/experiece of my units, while organizing more Tank Armies (I need them to encircle and destroy rear-guard divisions accidentaly left in unsafe positions - this yields best effort/result ratio but is hard to pull off). If nothing will change however, I will lose the game, because Berlin is soo far away for now and we are close to mud season now.
