Extremely frustrating, isn't it? While i I have no problem running that set up, I have had problems with some other games (skyrim/elemental war of magic). May i suggest (1) if you have been doing other things with your PC, and then decide to play distant worlds, first, shut down PC and reboot - this clears all the RAM so DW can use it all. (2) every couple of hours, (given above scenario, every 45 minutes? agr!) save the game, shut down PC, restart PC. This works for many, many games, not just DW. (3) shut down any non-essential processes running in the background - these use PC resources and thereby prevent the game ap from using those PC resources. If you aren't sure whats safe to shut down, read up on sites like ehow, and majorgeeks.com (geek site has a free program that sets a PC to 'game mode' and shuts down the 'start up aps automatically - except for windows required processes, of course. Programs that automatically start up may be real resource hogs... hope some of this helps...
