Lingayen: The westward directional pip over the LYB forces at Lingayen has disappeared. Only the northeasterly indicator remains. There are still 26K LYB's at Lingayen. I wonder if they called off their move toward Iba and instead intend to pound San Fernanado and Vigan?

San Fernando: There are now a "shed-load" of Ronsons at San Fernando. The relief column of armor from Vigan arrived. Now the remainder of Aus 7th Div and the armor will move back East together. Of course, JJ may attack first. War is Hell. We learned our lesson and will not be in move mode.

CVE's: The two damaged CVE's have 25-35% flotation damage and will try to make Butuan in northern Mindanao.

Many reinforcements headed for Iba. Br 2nd headed for Vigan/Aparri. Wasp and Yorktown to cover Br. 2nd moving up East coast of Luzon.

I don't think Monty was there. Field Marshall Alexander was Chief of Army Staff, was he not? He would be most likely to attend. Mountbatten was invited to keep him from doing anything rash in the absence of Winston.

BTW - that "steam" most likely comes from Winston's big cigar.

You might be right. Another clue might be the hat. Monty was usually seen wearing a beret by then.

As I looked at pictures of Alexander I found one where he's wearing a beret that would fit the bill.
