Even though there is no "real" footage like BARIS, I like how they have animated the photos. It still retains the spirit of BARIS.

When can we pre-purchase?

Glad you liked them! Yes, that was my intention, we really wanted to capture the essence of BARIS. With the added benefit that the artwork is consistent across the whole game and we're able to depict missions in much more detail (the probes that land in other planets are really cool!)

Sometime in September we'll provide the early access that Iain mentioned in the press conference. We'll surely announce it a few days before. No pre-purchase option, I'm afraid. You guys are the best communicators of any development team I have ever followed. It makes me want to purchase more Matrix games

One more question. I re-watched the Explorer launch example. I like how the mission "stages" blink as they are completed. What happens if the mission fails at a stage? Does the "number" blink red? Are we shown a graphic of the failure during the specific failure point?

Depends on the type of failure. If it's a critical one, the animation is over and you'll be taken to the 'Mission Results' screen. If it's a non-critical one, it will blink as yellow.

So you decided to include Korolov and rockets from a few other countries other than America? How generous. I mean an R-7, Korolov, the Proton-Zond combination that was illustrated should be no-brainers for a game like this....gee..are you going to have a Soyuz launcher, and Vostok Voshkod and Soyuz spacecraft,too? <intentional sarcasm>

No, at the moment we're not planning to include those. Maybe as an update later, but I can't promise you anything.

Are you at least considering the possibility of creating a space race scenario for a future add on ? I know it's a big change in the current game mechanics but it would add soooooooo much depth.

I must say that not having all those soviet/russian (plus chinese and french) rockets, spacecrafts, space stations and probes in the game is a big let down and a real show stopper for lots of people. I really respect your work but you can't do a serious space program simulation without those hardware. It's like rewriting history.

There has to be a limit at some point of what can be done before getting the game out. BARIS had a very limited number of rockets and hardware. Maybe some add-on packs with other nation's hardware would be something offered later at a reasonable price (sort of like the add-ons Sim City has.

Indeed, we're evaluating the possibility of releasing a "Space Race" version at some point. It'll all depend on how well BASPM goes

I agree that there are no manned soviet spacecraft (yet, we'll see if we can add them ), but the game has plenty of non-american hardware to pick from. Off the top of my head: Zond 5, Luna 2, Luna 15, Venera 7, Venera 9, Mars 2, Mir space station, Hayabusa, IKAROS, etc. Trust me, you won't be disappointed by the amount of programs available!
