I have downloaded the H2H mod TWICE and both times when I go to unzip it/extract it there are NO files  I'm on dial up and it takes me about 2 1/2 hours per attempt. Any advice?

You need to make an additional copy of WAW, then unzip files into the copy.

I think he is saying there is nothing inside the H2H zip file - is that correct?

I have had that happen very infrequently. My guess is the codes for the files proper get stripped out but the shell of the empty zip folder remains the same size. This can happen when the file is split up into packets, as are all files over a few Kb's.

CitizenX: Have you defragged youi HD and emptied all the Temp Internet files from that folder? Give us an idea of your OS and we can go from there. If all else fails: Do you have an APO or are you currently stateside?

We can work with you to get a working copy of H2H in you hands, but we first need to get very specific.

I'll be back in an hour or so. Since we have a blizzard in progress here in Gaylord, I am not going anywhere, am getting tired of sissy trains and like the cartoon with two vultures on a limb, one is saying to the other: "Patience my A**, I want to kill something!".

Tom - We can't do anything until he replies to our postings.

I had to turn off "private" e-mail because it was locking up my system, no idea why, it just does. So if you want, send him an e-mail and see if he still wants H2H.

Tell him to notify Gmenfan if he wants to go person-to-person e-mail - Gmenfan will in turn notify me. I've decided that in the interest of security I will feel better if I don't post my address openly on any forum.

I'm a 1st timers here. I looked in the downloads but do not see one for H2H. I have 7.1 and a way to make a fresh copy.

Also, what is the priorty of the mod? Is it looking to do a better job without C&C on? If it is , I'm for that. Missing enough orders to duck ... can really be frustrating.

If one of you would like to teach (or slaughter) a newby as a way of welcome. I'd be delighted to participate. Just a little battle mind. 2.5K maybe?

I just ran scan disk and will run a defrag after I finish posting.

I'm running W98 2nd ed on a P3 933. 512meg ram, g3 64mb vid card.

I'm going to use ThomasBell idea and try it again with Get Right

CitizenX, it could very possible that the computer is just very slow in opeing the zip. I would open it and wait several minutes and see if it reviels the executable file within. I see this happen alot with large tightly compressed zips even on my machine which has higher specs than yours. It gives the appearence that nothing is happening but just wait a few minutes. Download accelerators can be great for dial-ups but often are the cause of many corrupted downloads.

Way to go. Why don't you tell us what you did to correct the situation; others may have the same difficulty.

I used Get right this time.

This is kind of funny. I'm playing a D-Day scenario and all of my BR Rifle squads turned into rifle pits that make engine noises when they move. It does have its advantage in that they are hard to kill now, but I now have facing problems and them getting stuck in the mud ;)

CitizenX: If your playing D day in H2H game then you have bad OOBs...D day was designed for ver 7.1 and OOBs dated 4/7/02.
Thats the reason you need 2 versions of Spwaw in ur setup. I hope this helps and explains wierd infantry units (moving block houses) etc.

Hey chief, what about a Trojan Bunny? XD

GetRight is a great tool for dialups. If you lose your connection, you can set GetRight to "roll back" a few hundred kb. What does this do? this discards the last few hundred kb of the file you've been downloading, and starts re-downloading from there. Often when you lose connection with a dialup, your programs won't realize it and will merrily write junk data into the file you're d/ling. That screws up the whole shebang.

Iri......i guess anythings possible, very good possibility, but I for one use DAP and its working great, I just had a complete harddrive failure and had to redownload H2H mod and with "DAP" and "Stay on line" I got it all in one setting on a dial up. I still suspect his problem is 7.1 Game vs H2Hce OOBs....catch you on the flip side.:) :D

I believe the change was the different OOB. I uninstalled the game and started over with a fresh install. Now all I have to do is copy it and add H2H

Irinami has a good point. If the phone lines are old or not in good condition, you will occasionally get "noise" on the line that screws up downloads. Comes and goes, from what I hear, nothing the individual user can do about it. Reminds me how lucky I am to have cable.

Mad Dog, most of the scenario's won't work with H2H, unless they've been redone to match the oob's, Panzer Leo did extensive re-designing of the oob's, and therefore they are'nt compatible with the standard install. H2H is mostly for Hotseat, or PBEM/on-line play, although you can design scenario's, or download revised one's!!:D

In addition to creating the H2H mod, Panzer Leo has been working very hard to modify scenarios for H2H use.

I have been posting H2H scenarios at the Dirty Dozen

as they are either created or modified.

Warrior has also been creating and modifying scenarios also.

M4 has been working away also.

The collection is growing and is already larger than the scenario collections that come with other games.
