Since the War Room thread is beginning to spin out of War Room boundaries, here's this AAR, also to keep stuff in one place.

Settings: 1 town start, shroud, large map, 4 AI, stone age.

Up until turn 19, not a catapult was fired.

Until a unit of Domain of Bordeaux bandits chose to exploit the benevolence of the Emperor of Hiroshima by raiding a cavalry unit without a formal declaration of war and interning the diplomatic staff in Bordeaux. This had to be avenged:

Finally the pesky French artillery that caused horrendous losses (>100 rifle per turn) was eliminated:

With this, the Domain of Bordeaux was essentially routed and its forces no longer put up any effective resistance on any front, and victorious troops of the 47th Armored Division marched into Bordeaux:

So as of now, the mighty Imperial Army has just one issue, as demonstrated by the pic: fuel. It's not a really bad state, as the 8000 can be enough for a few chosen airstrikes and counterattacks, but definitely not enough for expansion.

Fortification works have commenced to adapt to the new challenges. Horses have been confiscated and artillery production gears up.

Wow what a mess
I was about to mention your oil production/usage. While your flyboys are having fun in the sky they're burning fuel like a ... like a ... well they're using up 10.000 oil units per turn easily  and the last thing you want to do is have your tanks drive on gasfumes... it gives them a penalty see. When and if that happens it's displayed as a jerrycan in the movement radius,  I think it gives the Armour a "close combat" malus.
Good job on the Arty kills, you really want them removed. Try to split your forces into smaller units when that happens = less targets for the AI's tubes, and use terrain for cover.. open ground is without halftrack protection a no go zone for Inf. Remember more smaller units give a concentric bonus attack, compared to the one hex attack from one large unit. And when attacking from multiple hexes try to use units from the same HQ, including units from other HQ's diminishes the bonus.

Light Armour against Inf and Armoured Cars = win!
Oh and when the purple AI DOW's you you're into a world of pain there, that lone 95 Inf unit defending the city will be surrounded before you know it *and* the rest of your forces to the West will be cut off. You really want some smaller Inf units there in the woods, say a few 10-20 Inf plus some Mg's. The purple AI probably won't have too many forces there... no roads there see, but still, better prepared then sorry.

Thanks for the reply! The HQ defending that area had been strengthened significantly then with more infantry & fortifications, and the purple AI seems to have only weaker units there. Plus, it's not easy for them to supply and move around there.

In the meantime, the mighty Hiroshima war machine has to make-do with 8000 cans of oil per turn. This limits airstrikes to absolute necessities, but makes horse-drawn arty flourish! And that's quite needed, seeing how The Soviets (blue AI) entered the scene in greater numbers.

And airstrikes are indeed absolute necessities, but quite good at that:

And it's official - an offensive has started against the Soviet forces. So far, it's going pretty well:

Blimey - those dive bombers are doing a grand job. That attack on the soviet armour was unbelievable...

Keep this AAR coming - I'm learning a lot. Note to self, more big guns and more planes...

Yes. Pity that both aircraft and heavy artillery if motorized both slurp oil at a great rate. Until Horse II is added to the game, there's no other option other than keeping them at artillery speed if there's no fuel.

In a daring assault, our troops smashed the Soviet defenses and seized the last cities of their heartland, Astrakhan, Tula and the capital Kiev. As mopping-up operations terminate, all eyes turn to the east in anticipation of the inevitable assault on the solie significant power left: the Old Imperium.

Ye old Imperiums seems rather large, hard to judge though as much of the map is still shrouded. Anyways you really want to take out that 608 planestack first. At this stage (that is when you can produce Heavy Arty and keep it supplied) you should be able to take it on though. Oh and don't underestimate the power of Staff II, expensive but it gives a big boost to your forces. The smaller you keep your force the more you can put into PP production. I never create a bigger force then absolutely necessary (plus some reserves ofcourse) as long as you keep a token force in some key strategic points you can put the rest of your army busy elsewhere. Do have however have some trains ready in your SHQ, so when and if and invasion takes place you can then move some forces to the endangered area. Unfortunately the AI is a but hesitant to do large scale invasions... and when it does it "forgets" to include an engineer unit to create a harbour.

Our sub flotillas sink a rather large Old Imperium cargo fleet in the port of Weimar. One submarine also experiences a strange encounter during the operation:

"We're back from an extended commercial break. The rest of the cast is no longer with us..."

Anyways, sorry 'bout the absence. The home front remains as usual, with the pressure on my cities not lessening. The thrust towards Berlin will probably continue to the oil field just visible in the previous screenshot; if I can setup enough units to protect the railway, I think I could get the huge massed force in the swamp out of supply -- that is, if the rail line running eastwards is a dead end.

Probably was not a good time to get v2.15i and its AI updates. =D

Turns out there is another Japanese city to the north. With all home cities running 100% on supply, capturing it would bolster our potential greatly, especially as it's relatively undefended thanks to our cut into the Old Imperium's soft underbelly.

Good to see you're back.
I can definitely see you are low on supplies...supply dot on the units is in yellow and the green readiness bar is not 100%. I see snow on your map and units outside cities in snow conditions are using up more supply, their readiness is at 95% so they need more supply to recuperate. When possible I try to place my units in the cities once the snow hits, to lessen the supply demand.
