I'm writing on behalf of my Japanese opponent because he cant speak English. His pc was Officially Pronounced Dead last week with no chance of retrieving the files on the hardisk. He bought a new one and loaded the game. I sent him file wpae 001, file 005 (his last turn) file 004 (the last turn I sent before his pc broke down)which he copied in his SAVE folder. He then tried to open file 4 with his player 1 password but says the game doesnt recognize it. He installed the game a second time with the same results.
We checked the version and we're still using the same. The game opens normally against the AI.
I've read michaelm can reset the password. Maybe that'll allow him to open the file?

Thanks for any help: we're in june 42 and it'd be a shame to waste these 6 months.

New PC shouldn't cause a problem decoding the file.
He can send me his current save with password to michaelm75 @ hotmail.com, and I'll have a look.

among all the things we tried this seems to have worked: my jap opponent loaded a previous turn and he managed to open the file with no apparent big consequences (a stack of allied lcus had its mileage reset to zero), so we only lost two days of war.
No need to reset the password then (cross fingers).

I really thank you for being ready to help Michael.

Now I can go on beating up this jap.
