Nice house. Seeing the windows opening at the top reminds of living in Krakow in the early 80's.

Thanks all you guys.

I was living in Kraków for 5 years between 2002 and 2007.
I was planing to stay there but i found good job in my home town and i return where i am now. Years in Kraków are so far one of best i my live. Probably because i was student and live was easier.

30 June 43

Mixed day for Japan. Good nows from Rabaul and bad from Burma.

Burma

First Bad
Enemy ID and IR move to hex north of Taung Gyi and push back my small forces. I was sending ID to that hex but now is to late. I will be able to block enemy from moving more east. I have now road and allies will move slowly trough jungle. I am sending two IDs, some arty and tanks to bloc enemy moves.

Ground combat at 59,47 (near Mandalay)

Rabaul
Docup second time in two weeks send ships to Rabaul. This time result was excellent. None of allied ships return home.
Allies lost two CAs and three DDs. In return two Japanese destroyer need return to Truk and from there to Japan for repairs. But they are not in danger of sinking. Very good day.
I June allied naval missions in Salomon Sea cost them 2xCA, 2xCL, and 6xDD. Japan lost only one DD during those engagements.

Question is why Docup is sending those ships against superior forces.

I feel for you. I just tore down the old wallpapers in the baby room. 7 layers of old wallpaper! Its the most boring thing ever...Just got the spackle up. Now I have to sandpaper everything and do a second round of spackle. Boooring! And after that I have to paint three of the walls at least 3 times and put wallpaper up on the 4th wall. Oh, and paint the ceiling. And put the new flooring in...gah!

And then of course rewire everything, put in new outlets and switches.

If you weren't such a handy-man you'd just hire someone else to do it and go to the pub!

I my case i do maybe 75% of work with my father and brother in law. Rest o work was made bu hired people.
When i buy new doors montage was in price. They came to my place and 48h everything was done. I also pay for doing ceramic floor.
I cost some extra money but for those jobs i don`t have tools and skills. Also it saves lot of time.

JocMeister good luck.
I am tired like hell. But now when i am almost at finish i must say, it was worth it.

It looks that it was some kind of bug. Docup newer planed to visit me in Rabaul.
Very strange behavior of that TF.
Details can be found in tech forum and Docup AAR.

Ha! I couldn´t afford not to do it myself! Craftsmen are expensive as hell in Sweden. I charge 65 euro per hour and thats not including the car and startup fee!

A good painter charges almost as much! Say 55 Euro times 30 hours or so...and thats not even including the material

I get it completely. While I've never done the heavy technical work like plumbing or electric, I have done a bit of construction and modification when needed. I also enjoy it, mostly in the planning and finished stages, not so much in the doing.

1 July 44

Quiet everywhere. Only action today was battle in china
Before battle i was sure enemy have zero AV but it have 250AV. Stupid mistake. Regiment lost combat capability and will retreat to nearest base to lick wounds.
Worst thing that i have no information from Docup. Last mail is from 3 July when he write that he is going next day to celebrate 4 July with family. I am little worried.

Ground combat at 82,31 (near Lanchow)

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 4072 troops, 32 guns, 13 vehicles, Assault Value = 151

Defending force 11286 troops, 169 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 258

Japanese adjusted assault: 8

Allied adjusted defense: 313

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 39

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), experience(-)
Attacker: shock(+), leaders(+)

Japanese ground losses:
1946 casualties reported
Squads: 24 destroyed, 125 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 19 disabled

Allied ground losses:
8 casualties reported

2 July 44

Strange thing with email. I receive email with turn that was send by Docup almost 24h ago.
At lest i get it.

Turn without history. Today i work on air groups. I convert few LB groups to fighters.
That give me extra ~100 fighters in service. Half of that will go to combat second half will train pilots. I thinking about converting few more LB groups to FB units. I think they can be very useful later in game to naval and kamikaze attacks. At lest they will work better in that role comparing to LB as they have decent speed 340mph(Nick) and 360mph(Randy). Both planes have armor and can take 2x250kg bombs to 7 hex distance.

D4Y3 advance to 12/43

Salomon Sea
4E close Shortlands.
Yamato and Yamashiro arrive to Truk. They have full fuel tanks and tomorrow will sail to Rabaul to join Haruna, Nagato and Fuso.
KB again refueled waiting for orders in safe anchor.

R&D
Ki-67 advance to 12/43
Ki-84a advance to 12/43

Air battle above Prome. Loses are equal for both sides but Japan lost only 13 pilots.
We achieve good score against P-47 (first sweep) destroying totally 13 planes.
Second and third sweep of Lightnings slaughter my boys. I lost ~30 planes for only 8 Lightnings. In revenge my pilots manage to destroy 32 enemy medium bombers. Magwe damaged but open. Pilot morale above 70.

Enemy bombers bomb Buna and Port Moresby. After closing Shorthands last turn there are only two operational Japanese airfields in area. Rabaul and Gasmata

I not wright that in last post but i should.

Burma
Remree Island was bombarded by CA TF. So far those missions are useless. Docup manage to kill 12 unlucky soldiers. I thinking to mine island. Maybe I will have luck.
I decide to evacuate planes from Prome. 35 runway damage but 95 field infrastructure damage.
Not worth of fighting and morale lose from damage suport infrastructure will be huge. Also i cant defend every AF in Burma.

60 more fighters i flying to Bangkok. I will keep there 100 fighters as strategic reserve.

Salomons.
After closing Shortland, PM, and Buna. Only Gasmata and Rabaul are open. I hoping Docup will tray close Gasmata tomorrow. 520 fighters is waiting in CAP trap
120 Tojo, 90 Georges, 310 A6M5 all with top pilots.

In few days another 90 Georges will arrive to Rabaul (This time they will fly N2 version)

5 June 43

Burma
Prome bombed again. This time we don`t fight. AF take almost 50 hits but lucky only 10 runway damage.

Fast transport TF unload 1700 tons of supplies in Ramree Island. I want to have there few k more.

Rabaul
Sagmata CAP trap fail. Planes returning to Rabaul.
Yamato join SAG in Rabaul hex(Yamato is one shot weapon - i cant rearm his guns in Rabaul. So better if he dont waste them)

Supplies.
I start expanding some engine factories to match future needs.
Also i add few B6N2 factories. Also some R&D factories repair with good speed.
If i add to that fort building, upgrading air group and reinforcements to LCU i start losing supplies. Average i am 5k in minus daily.
I expect to start be on positive side gagain in next 10 days.

Currently empire have 3M of supplies

6 July 43

Burma
Rangoon mined. First at night, later at day.
I think air mining is till not working as designed. I was able to intercept escort planes but at moment i shutdown last, bombers drop mines and run without fight.
CAP shutdown 6 Beaufighters. I am also worried about low CAP numbers i have 180 fighters on 50% CAP range zero with 6 best radars and only 62 Tojos in air

Afternoon Air attack on Rangoon , at 54,53

Weather in hex: Light cloud

Raid detected at 50 NM, estimated altitude 39,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 15 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-44-IIa Tojo x 26
Ki-44-IIc Tojo x 36

Allied aircraft
Beaufighter VIc x 7
B-17E Fortress x 6

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
Beaufighter VIc: 4 destroyed

Aircraft Attacking:
6 x B-17E Fortress laying Mk 13 Mine from 7000 feet

Biak
Base mined. Mines already cleaned.

Port Moresby

Base mined. Who cares. I already abandon that base and troops there are domed. Sonn i will start airlifting those troop to Rabaul.

Rabaul
I lost AMc from sub. Hevy ASW patrol ordered.

Treasury Islands
A-36 attack my ships in hex. I lie little about what is happening there to Docup. OK not lie but i dont told entire true. I have in hex Fast TF and Bombardment TF. I cement that action to Docup but i mention only that i will cover my fast transports from air (this is true). I hope Docup will not evacuate planes from Tagula. Island have 150 fighters 50 bombers.

A-36 not manage to get trough CAP even enemy have numeric superiority

Morning Air attack on TF, near Treasury Islands at 109,132

Weather in hex: Light rain

Raid detected at 34 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 9 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M5b Zero x 7

Allied aircraft
A-36 Mustang x 14

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5b Zero: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
A-36 Mustang: 2 destroyed

CAP engaged:
Unryu-1 with A6M5b Zero (7 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling)
7 plane(s) intercepting now.
Group patrol altitude is 15000
Raid is overhead

Question
Float planes. Should i stay with Jake for entire war or in next month i should upgrade to Norm.

For that change.
I will free Ha-33 engines that i can use for D4Y3 production
Norm has better range

Against
Norm is SR 3 plane.
Norm has not have radar

Singapore
In two days Naval ASW damage two enemy subs and air ASW sunk one.
Enemy sub sunk small Tanker.

R&D
Ki-84a Frank advance to 11/43 (i will start producing Frank in first week of August)

15-17 June 1943

Docup move in Marshals Islands. Dont have time to details. I will do that afternoon.
But fast summary.

Docup manage to unload some supplies in Wotje and Maoeolap. Automatically next day enemy fighters show up in Wotje. I send 130 Georges to handle that. In Two days Japanese fighters for lose of 9 A6M5(escorts) and 6 N1K2(sweep) manage to destroy ~35-40 enemy fighters.

I think Wotje have operational runway but still must have damaged service buildings. After two days of fight he lose many planes also many must be damaged and without service buildings he cant repair them. Also morale must be low

Last turn i lost 16 Ki-49 when they arrive before sweep.

On sea i have SAG (2xDD) in two days those two ships sunk 6 cargo ships. In one of TF we manage to sunk few hundreds allied troops. No combat units so probably engineers.
Three more ships was sunk by D4Y1. I am sending 2xBB, 2xCA, 3xCL and 8xDD forces to secure waters in area and bombard Wotje. AKE already in place ready to rearm ships. 20k fuel is sailing from Truk.

I see enemy CVE TF close to Johnston Island but it holds save distance from Marshals.

Burma
Lot of movement. After last air battle it is very Quiet.
Map lower

Marshals.
I sweep with 120 Georges finding empty air and fields. It looks that Docup is retreating.
I think he was probing my defense. I will bomb and close enemy fields asap.

Salomon's

Quiet but every turn i see lots pf enemy ships in area. I see also lot of ships sailing toward area from Oz. Two days ago recon show enemy CV in Oz base hex. But that can be FoW

Burma
Things are slow. CLs manage to drop 1700 tons supplies in Ramrre Isl. Base have now 5500 tons. Last turn i place cruisers for another run but they where detected so mission will be delayed for few days.

When i watch at allied move directions i think Docup will attack Ramree Is.
I am sending ships to mine base.

DEI
Quiet.

MArshals.
It looks that Docup retreat from area.

Salomon Sea
Last turn Docup send bombers against Munda, Shortlans and Gasmata. Above that last base I manage to shot down 30 bombers and 13 P-38. It cost me 35 Tojos and 10 pilots.
AF is closed and 40 Tojos stuck there damaged. i manage to evacuate main groups body but probably those airframes are lost.

It looks that Docup is ready to make move. I see lot of transport ships in Milne Bay. At lest 3 transport TFs and two SAGs.
No intel about enemy CV. Heaviest ships i see are CA and CL but i have havy radio traffick from OZ coast and my serch planes showing few TF sailing toward MB.
I have few potential landing points. So far Docup move with short jumps so i think he will land in one of those points.

-Port Moresby
-Buna
-Lae
-Gasmata
-Woodlark Island
-Shortlands
-Munda and everything South of it.

I will not fight for Port Moresby and Buna. They are to close to enemy nest and to far to give proper air support. If Ducup will try to land in Lae, Gasmata, Shortlands or Munda area he will face my full reaction on sea and air (KB included). Woodlark Island will be defended but KB will not be used. Most of job will be done by naval forces. Support will be given by 600 fighters i have in Rabaul

In Rabaul i have fast reaction force 7xBB, 5xCA, 20xDD.

I think we can expect action in next 2 weeks. He just cant sit there wasting time. It is almost August so he must start offensive, if not, he will wake up in 1944 in the same place he was in 1942

China
We have some small battles in north. But nothing worth comment

R&D
Ki-84a Frank advance to 9/43. 8 days before production will start.

Salomon`s
Another visit of enemy bombers in Gasmata and Shortlands. AFs closed for long.
I am sending BB TF toward MB. I will give them some air cover but Docup is not have bombers reedy to attack so they should be safe (at lest last time he have no bombers on naval attack).
Plan is to test his reaction when major naval force show up close to his base. Also i hoping that one of SAGs he have in MB will react. I will not enter waters around his base. To much enemy TB in area and moon is low. It can be interesting and can give me some good intel how Docup will behave when i try same thing next time in different place

Burma
Nothing

China
We capture another base in north. But in other places quiet

Guam
ID is unloading at island. It is first from many big units i plan to place in Marianas

Kosher or not.

I have KB close to Truk . Currently there is no job requiring planes stationing on carriers so i send all fighters to CAP in Rabaul, Truk and few smaller bases. Few bombers groups are stationing on ground AF training pilots or flying ASW missions. Almost all squadrons are 1 day range from carrier so KB can be full operational in 24-48h.

Does using KB groups as LBA is kosher when CV is operational?
I dont see right now reason to risk precious CV and burn fuel when the same job can be done from ground based AF. Also i dont what to waste ops time that can be used to train pilots or fly CAP to build XP. When anchored at port i am wasting 900 planes that can do something

Of course i will use KB in places where AF net is week or against enemy CV TF or in situation when i will need extra strike coordination that LBA cant provide

There is no problem putting CV planes wherever you want to. There is a lot of precedent in the war as well.

Risking the fighter pilots in CAP at Rabaul if there is the potential for strong Allied sweeps/bombing though might not be the best choice. Unless you feel the extra punch might make you able to inflict really serious losses to the 4Es. The A6M is just so fragile you'll inevitably lose pilots. I'd almost take the good ones out if they're used on land and add others in the 60 exp range to get them ready for CVs by giving them some time on CAP and fighting sweeps/bombing raids.

As for the training, yes, that's a very good idea. The KB can lay waste to a sub fleet if the Kates are trained to 60-70% in ASW skill, as they're exp and bombing skill add in and really make for a lot of hits on subs.

Thanks.

I have only ~130 KB A6M5 in Rabaul (only base in sweep range)but they are supported by
150 Ki-44IIc and 180 N1K2.

~170 KB A6M5 is on CAP but out of range of allied sweeps.

As You suggest i will send all elite pilots to pools and replace them with 60+(Rabaul) and 50+ in other units. If needed a can in no time replace them with 80+ and rebase to CV.

Salomon.
I send two SAG TFs toward Milne Bay. They are now 4 hexes from enemy base. It is big surprise for me how small naval search Docup have in Salomons. I am so close to his base and one TF was not detected at all and second have only 2/2 DL and i telling here about BB TF, rather easy to find.
Strange. Time to find how to use it against him.
