...and here is my initial squad - subject to the usual pruning, tinkering and all that jazz that will no doubt take place right up until kick-off

Hmmm, I may have to switch a Chelsea player into my team. Two games in the first week against a couple of weaker teams.

Not smart enough for pictures.

Goalkeeper de Gea Reserve Jones
Defenders Kompany, Hangeland, Riise, Clichy
Midfield Bale, Gerrard, Edu, Lucas
Forwards Van Persie, Dzeko

Reserves Chico, Mulumbu, Anelka

Dzeko might get swapped out for a starter??

I reckon you can get good value for money for defenders, especially those that can get forward and assist or score.

warspite1

Looks like you may need to swap Bale for someone else shortly

Yes with the "special one" back at the Bridge, I think at least one Chelsea player is a must.

Always a problem here keeping up with transfers and injuries, I can alway swap him for Suarez

Hmm, not sure what's going on there. If you PM me your email address I can send you an invite that way.

EDIT: Also just double check that there are no spaces at either end of the code. If I copy the code from your post then there's a space at the end, which could throw the website off I guess.

Are you copying and pasting?

iirc that's what I did and couldn't get through. When I put in manually it worked.

I'm tempted to put Loic Remy into my team. Can he compete for a full season though? Six months does not a striker make, for further reference I present exhibit A: Amr Zaki.

There's also the chance that Remt will be turning out for HMP Belmarsh F.C. instead.

What I'm hoping for is that Dimi Berbatov has a stormer and that Adel Taarabt learns how to pass to other players (i.e. the rather good Bulgarian striker).

I am still not sure if I am going to join or not.

I am sure it is all for fun but if I sign up I am pretty sure that I am going to get annoyed about how the points gets awarded. Even though I know the system favours players who score goals and I can pick players accordingly. Even writing this gets me annoyed. Go figure.

Do it Orm!

It is easier for attacking players to score points according to their goals etc, but defensive players often score big bonus points. So picking a good defender in an average team can often result in much bonus if they have a good game, even if they concede 2-3 goals.

So red is the most successful colour in English football but no one has chosen a red strip - lots of greens and yellows on show though

I'll have to sell Diarra...I've just read that he is troublesome and I bet he will spent a lot of time in the bench.
He was a good player, but some of these guys don't age well.

JeffK what's with the support for Cardiff - are your family originally from Wales or some other reason? How do you feel about the change of colours and badge?

Mum's side is from Abergavenny, Dad's lot jumped ship to join the Gold Rush and started in Beith, Scotland 300 years back.

I really follow Liverpool but like to follow the newbies.

Its interesting how shortlived FA Teams are, Carfiff is only 110 years or so when compared to many of the Australian Rules teams are 150-160 yeards old.

Probably close for which discipline has the older team. Perhaps you may know. Sheffield FC is the worlds oldest Football Club - 1857. I didn't realise Aussie rules football went back so far! wow.

The Melbourne Football Club was founded in May 1859, and Australian rules codified in the next year, Association Football did not have a set of rules for another 10 years.

We've got six teams signed up so far. The latest date for signing up without losing any potential points is (AFAIK) 1130 BST on Sat 17th August. That's the point at which your team is locked for the opening weekend games.
