there seems to be no USN fighter training squadrons?

unless you have a spare VF hanging about that i do not know of? lots of USMC. FP squadrons for DB pilots and Catalinas for Topr skill. but no USN fighters.

keep Wasp as a training carrier?

You can use floatplane squadrons to train fighter pilots.

Some folks also move the VRF squadrons off the replacement CVEs. I don't do that myself, but I do know they seem to train slowly on CVEs and I would assume ashore they train faster.

In 1943 you do start getting a few extra USN squadrons that are carrier trained including 3X F6F squadrons.

Set the floatplanes to sweep training. That's the only way to get trained USN [edit: fighter] pilots early on. I use most VRF, B & T squadrons for training as well.

Cheers,
CC

As everyone says. Use the floatplanes. This won´t be enough though despite setting most of them to Sweep training. I would strongly recommend using some of the VRF squadrons you receive early on some of the CVEs to train fighter pilots. If you lose a CV or two make sure you buy back the squadrons. They can if anything be used as training squadrons.

Make sure you turn off auto upgrade on the FPs you use for Fighter training. Some of them upgrade to DBs. If they do you will lose the ability to train Sweep.

i try not to game the upgrades too much. i play against the AI and it needs all the help it can get.

in my mods, there are open TO&E slots that can be filled with pilots as seen fit

i am annoyed that certain unrealistic features (like ac research) exist

while other features where historical parameters are forced
(like static squadron sizes and TO&E) exit as well

So long as you have trainers, pilots, and AV support available
the ability to train needs to exist

also another few gripes

a) annoyed that pilot exp. can be increased above 70 just by flying CAP

b) would be useful if ac models can be classified as something else

for example emily as torpedo

c) trainers were a lot cheaper to make than frontline fighters, needs to be reflected in the production model (for example nate was kept in production and used for training)

to a point i can see this,BUT training ,AC/Ferry pilots and transport AC are in the game, just invisible.

even as OCD as many of us are there has to be an endpoint of "chrome" or the game is unplayable.

while i am sure someone somewhere put bomb racks on most training AC. the prefomance / range would be even less effective than the dutch falcons.

And you can use catalinas to train USN torpedo bomber pilots. Though it is tough as you really need all the cats elsewhere.

FPs on sweep for fighter pilots.
and FPs to train Naval bombers
and Catalinas to train Torp skill.

and in my unlimited assets defend the west coast from
subs, search arcs across the pacific and indian oceans, with point ASW here and there.
