Hey folks -

This game is amazing, and I was absolutely stoked to be making decent progress after having gotten out of the Age of Shadows fine and just discovered and capship, used it to take out a large pirate base, was assembling my forces to roll on another one, etc, when... Bang:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at DistantWorlds.Types.BuiltObject.ExecuteCommands(Galaxy galaxy, Double timePassed, DateTime time, Int64 starDate)
at DistantWorlds.Types.BuiltObject.DoTasks(DateTime time, Int64 starDate, Boolean inView)
at DistantWorlds.Main.TLtpIsLwHy(DateTime , Int64 , BuiltObjectList , Boolean )
at DistantWorlds.Main.ProgramLoop()

DW crashes reliably at the same point in time, shortly after loading the save I'll upload in a minute here. The save file is "sayke - Aug 26 2013 - v1.9.0.11 - NullReferenceException.zip"... Let me know if it doesn't seem to work for any reason.

All my stuff is updated and everything works fine up till the point of this crash.

What I can't figure out about this is why one of the object references wouldn't actually point at an object! All the other arguments except for Galaxy that get passed to ExecuteCommands are quite simple... Well, maybe DateTime is a more complex object as well, but in either case, Galaxy and DateTime should both be pretty standard objects for DW to pass references to! Why would the object reference not point at the object?? It's the sort of function that gets called millions of times per game, and it obviously works for most of them... There must be a memory leak or something else weird going awry behind the scenes that I can't see.

It is frustrating, though, because that savegame I uploaded is as far as I've gotten in DW:S. Maybe I'll start a new game not in the Age of Shadows and go from there...
