Here's how the air war is going: I'm down to my last 900 biplanes ( I-15 ) and those and the I-16's are carrying the brunt of the war so
far so I'm not surprised that there is a, like, 5 to 1 ratio of losses going on. Maybe I should re-think the early deployment of the aircraft
and pull them back to safety. But I really need to start whittling down the number of Axis fighters somehow. Maybe as a compromise I
could pull the bombers back as the air over the front lines is a bit too hot still for bombers.

Somehow I succeeded in sneaking a tank unit into John's AO and captured his port after about 4 ignore losses attacks in a row.

I did not see that coming. However as I have my forces are now over the Bug the port is not so important and the unit it will be lost to Larry in due course. (I hope)

Larry's forces in Murmansk were destroyed this turn along with 1 inf div that was covering his withdrawal along the 132x32 to 155x32 hex row. He has moved an Inf div and cav div plus some eng units to the bridge at 148x32. Unsure if he will counter attack or just defened the position. From my position it is a holding position. The action will be to the south.

Inf losses have been heavy the past two turns. Lsses are due to heavy attacks against units in my rear.

Thanks for the Axis status update. Please tell me again what the premise of this WITE mod is? What's been changed?

What's the premise? I donno that it has one. I know the house rules are changed, and the Axis minor allies have their squads broken
out by nationality instead of the generic Rifle Squads now. I'm not sure what all has been changed......Fogger would know more about
that than I would.

Ouch. That must have been a painful operation. Was a local anesthetic used or a general?

Looks like the Axis is falling well behind the historical time table. Are the heavy losses during mop up because of ignore losses while fortified?

Is it really? I've been rushing units forward just to get in the way of the Axis advance and my losses have been gynormous. I'm hoping
all that sacrifice will buy me enough time to get my reinforcements to the forward areas. And it was my impression that John was doing
rather well for himself. Except for that aborted invasion just to the NW of Sevastapol he's had no failures anywhere so far. And I've
been scrambling for units and moving them seems like the entire game so far. I'm having a blast.

This would be my guess too. I've been scrupulous in putting everybody I can change into ignore losses state and digging them in. So
I would guess that John's losses will be higher than they would if I hadn't done that. I'm guessing here.

I too felt that the Axis is a little behind the historical ground capture. That said, he is spending a lot of time and units eliminating surrounded Soviet units. The upside for him is that it takes the Soviet kills out of the replacement pool.

I guess it's official then......John is falling behind the historical schedule and that means it's possible that the Soviets may be winning?
And the Soviet losses HAVE been higher than "normal" too.

Here's some of the losses so far:

Here's the condition of the aircraft. I've been holding back those aircraft that are below about 75% in readiness and moving them into
the action as they qualify for it. I've been thinking that maybe that's the wrong way to do it. I'm thinking that maybe I should hold them
all back until they are all ready and then deploy all of them simultaneously. That way they would support each other better. What do
you guys think?

I agree. I'll probably miss that 5% in production sooner or later. On the other hand there's nothing industry-wise that John can destroy
up there and now that he's got it he will have to defend it the rest of the game. Or until I can take it back whichever occurs first. To tell
you guys the truth I'm not all that interested in fighting the war that far north. If it weren't for having to hold Leningrad I'd much rather
use those defenders to defend Moscow. Or somewhere.

Yeah I love it when that happens, let's see how that works out.
@ Larry; I'd use up all the obsolete (bi-) planes, they're scrap anyways, and be more careful with the better planes.

Here's that one area just south of Murmansk where I can bottleneck the Axis units, perhaps permanently. I need to repair the bridge
however if I want to defend to the west of it. The supply drop is significant.
