From my understanding this game is similar to Panzer General in it's play style. I do not have an issue with this as long as I am able to use various types of strategies to succeed. Does this game permit the user to do this or is the gamer restricted to more puzzle like solutions to achieve success?
Thank you for your time and have fun.

the game is an operational one. The solutions depend on the map. There are maps that can be solved with different ways (e.g. with two types of brilliant victory) if you look at the main campaign you can choose several ways and OOBs (interchanging units between army groups) so it has several solutions in these areas.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Actually, since you have a lot of room to maneuver and many mobile units there's a lot of room for different approaches. It also depends on how you build up your forces during the campaign. So there's definitely a lot of replayability in Germany at War.

I agree this seems more flexable than Panzer General - it seems the goal of Panzer General was for the player to possibly win in the last move or two whereas this game allows one to use different strategies and still complete the mission. With Panzer General one had to figure out after playing a scenario 5 times the really ONLY way to get a Decisive Victory was to basically make each perfect move with each unit. The battles in Panzer General in my opinion are more linear meaning there is only one way to fight the battle.

For Example with Germany at War playing the Army Group North Campaign I am going to in the 2nd Battle replay it and try to go straight for their airfield and take it and see if I can still win this way.

Keep in mind, this also depends on your difficulty settings.

Set them brutal hard and there will be less solutions left!
