Turn11: AGN: 18th is up to the Luga in force, 4th Panzer group weakly encirles some units around Pskov. I expect him to link back up, seems SOP for my opponent.

Turn11:AGC he was able to open a 1 hex wide corredor to the Smolensk pocket, delaying it's liquidation 1 more turn. But hopefully after this turn I have pushed any would be rescuers to far away. Sub-pocket at Vitebsk is cleaned up.

Turn12:AGN: Inching towards the Luga, I don't think there is any way to break his lines up here, without incurring crippling casualties.

Turn12:AGS: 1st Panzer reaches D-town, cutting of 9 divisions against the river.11th army forcing it's way into Crimea. I am 50/50 on the effort. Might be more profitable to seal the Crimea off and send most of the 11th Army east. VP's in the Crimea, but I also hate it becoming a sally port for the Soviets during the winter.

Turn12: Final note. If anyone is reading this AAR and knows the following let me know: I see some other AAR's people displaying/looking at their production screens, why? You can't control any of it, I would like too but as far as I know production is on autopilot. Is there a way to influence production? or any advantage to be gained monitoring production?

I think most post production screens mainly to show the pools, not the production itself. It is helpful to keep an eye on the pools of manpower and armaments so that you can counter some developments, if the pools get too shallow.

Need to pull the 11th army troops at the Crimea back some to locations where the Russian can only mass a max of 3 units against you. Get in the choke points. If you allow him to be able to get attacks from 2 hexes or more, he is going to break your line come blizzard. I would make sure the Romanian Mtn units are down there also. Swapping out a regular inf div for a German Mtn div broken down to regiment in each hex with a normal German inf div will make the blocking force down there much better come blizzard if you can locate in areas he can only mass 3 units against you. If you move all the Ally mountain units down there and locate with a regular German div, you could use the German Mtn as your reserve down there to break his teeth.

You need to get some Ally troops in any size 2 and above town/city and start them digging. Those cities will help protect them from Blizzard. The blizzard will butcher the allied troops much worse than your German troops. Only the Mtn troops are worth anything come the 2nd to 3rd turn of blizzard. Allies that is. The others will crumble like a wet piece of paper at the slightest attack.

Your front line seems to be awfull. You failed to capture Leningrad, Moscow, Stalino... any valuable object. I belive the retreat to the non-blizzard line would be the best strategy at this time. Saving your troops morale, manpower + equipment. In 42 you can try to hit the strong soviet forces, with high morale troops.

Good ideas. Yeah I planned on pulling those 11th army divisions back to the choke points. I have them forward deployed right now so the other units behind them can dig in unmolested. This AAR is several turns behind due to the server crash. But I am giving up the offensive and focusing on getting ready to try to survive winter.

You are going to be hard pressed, that is for sure, no matter what you do really. Focus on killing and beating the crap out of every Cav unit you can see or get at. They are the worst demon's you will face during the blizzard. Encircle them if you can and kill them, they should always be your priority target.

Yep, been doing that too. You will see that in an upcoming turn when I post it. He had a bunch of cavalry out in front of Stalino, and 1st Panzer took a joy ride thru the herd. But I will be looking for other cavalry to whack in the next couple of turns also.

All my TOE is skewed to infantry right now: infantry,Mt.Inf,engineers,MG,airborne,airlanding. If they don't carry a rifle TOE is 50%. Thinking about sending all my airbases to Poland or Rumania to prevent the aircrews becoimg frost bite victims. Might leave some bases behind for transports.
