I just want my P-38s. I'll find a way to sink the BB lites, what ever type they are.

Gary's book thread made me wander through Jentshura's book on the IJN and I looked at the B-64 (9 12" Guns and Long Lances) project versus the B-65 (9 15" Guns no TTs) and got to thinking which would be more fun to have in the Mod. Do you want two BUTCH Fast Pocket Battleships or a pair of under-armored but big gunned Battlecruisers?

Voting has opened...

What is under-armored by B 65 ? what is the armour in mm by the B 65 ?

It was to be built as a SUPER-Cruiser with strong cruiser armor and HUGE guns. I am not familiar with the Alaska-Class. How much armor do they carry?

Won't change the specs from what was planned though...

Checked Jentshura just to be safe though...

B-64 - Have two upgrade options. One keeps the torpedo tubes, while the other goes into one with more AA.

Hey Michael.

Plan to call today. You around?

Life has been...SCARY...the last few days.

Like that upgrade possibility of throwing out those tubes and replacing with my 100MM. Nice thought!

I concur with this note from Michael:

John,

P-38F....now at 40/month Production....change to 20/month Production & 10/month Replacements....-20 for two months, but overall more per month once the next models start to roll out.

P-40....the "K" is at 65/month....change to 75/month......the "N1" is at 70/month....change to 75/month

F4F-4....leave alone...increase F4U-1 from 30/month to 35/month.

Michael

This would provide a slight rise in airframe production but not be TOO much as things more further and further into the game.

How about this as an AA version of the B-64?

Go from 4 -- 6 DP Heavy AA Turrets on each side. Pull out the Long Lances and replace with these...

From the other thread:

As always, let me preface that I am an AFB. I played early RA all the way to The Bitter End. I think fighter production is good pre 6.0. I still believe (and posted) bomber production towards the end is seriously pooched. Advanced Japanese fighter production, plus AA upgrades, plus the draw down (historical) bomber production vs the still viable (mod) Japanese Air Force will cause someone to have serious issues in mid '44 to '45

Some ideas on mid to late war Allied bombers, specifically the Americans.

B-24J....38/month as Replacements....27/month as Production....increase the "J" factory from 12 to 20...8 more per month from 9/43 to wars end

B-25J11....15/month as Replacements....35/month as Production...double Replacements from 15 to 30

PBJ-1J Mitchell....20/month Replacement.... increase this USN bomber to 30

I'm staying away from any B-29 modification. An increase in one heavy bomber and two medium bombers.

How bad does the Allies bomber shortage get at the end??

I see the J6M1 still has different 30mm guns for normal and extended range.

BB Washington and CL Helena still do not have float plane units assigned.

Ship class Chamois #767 - Weapons slots 2 and 9 do not show up in game display.

Ship Class Le Fantasque #774 - Weapons slots 11 and 12 still do not show weapons in game display.

I, somehow, missed this. FIXED!

Michael did the tweaks to Allied Fighter production that we discussion earlier in the thread. Things look good.

As I see it we are ready for release. I have bundled a whole bunch of stuff together with the files. All the beautiful artwork done by Sulusea, the pwhexe movement change file from John (JWE/Symon), the new Combat Screen from Sulu, Artwork for Charlotte and Kawachi, and a detailed RA Change Document.

The only reason I hold off at the moment is waiting to the see what John comes up with with his aerial combat modifications. Am VERY interested in adding that to the Mod.

Do people want this released NOW or wait a week for JWE's work?

Did Michael do the bomber increases? Apparently they will be needed.

Reaction:

B-24J seems OK.

B-25J11 might be a bit much. How about we find something in the middle and do 22-23. Sounds stupid but tweaking is all I want with production numbers. Of course 15 more PERIOD isn't much...

PBJ-1J we raise by the 10 to 30.

I did NOT increase anything for mid to late war Allied bombers. I just looked up was available and what the main models were that 'could' be increased. Didn't want a repeat of being jumped on for proposing increases like I was for the P-38s.

Just as a thought, from having "been there, done that" I like the B-24J and B-25J11 numbers, and scratch the PBJ increase. Make sure this is to the end of the war (they vanished in mid '45 for some reason).

If the army air corp gets air frames you won't need to throw navy bombers into the grinder.

Seconding this: playing both stock and Babes 29-C (but not RA), the Allied mediums are way less useful and get attrited much more quickly when used in most situations than the 4E.

Another side issue may be the daily PP amount. With the need to use them to convert air groups to others, what level is RA 6.0 at?? I would be in favor of a 5 to 10 point increase (55 or 60/day).

B24J increases would change monthly output from 65 to 73. Starts in 9/43 and goes to end.

B25J11 increased would change monthly output from 45 to 60. Starts in 9/44 and goes to end.

PBJ-1J increase would change monthly output from 20 to 30. Starts in 7/44 and goes to end.

idea...

The shoakau kai get a few 40 mm AA in late War ! I think the proud of the IJN, the two ships of the Yamato class can carry prototypes of the 40 mm AA or captured Bofors AA...the two ships are the showpieces of the IJN Power. They are favoured with new guns and technology.

the first experimental platform for the 40 mm AA in late War...this is the idea behind this !

Got input from two of the developers of RA to release 6.0 prior to JWE/Symon's ATA work being done. We shall do this. Need to do some fine-tuning and put together the specifics and outline of changes made.

Need to get the password to the RA Site. Until then--if you are interested please email me your email and I shall send the files in a Zipped Folder. Will also bump the 'how to install a mod' thread over in the war room so you have the basics of how to do the install.

Let us have some fun!

Allied Air Production Changes:

Bombers:
B24J increases would change monthly output from 65 to 73. Starts in 9/43 and goes to end.

B25J11 increased would change monthly output from 45 to 60. Starts in 9/44 and goes to end.

PBJ-1J increase would change monthly output from 20 to 30. Starts in 7/44 and goes to end.

Fighters:
P-38F....now at 40/month Production....change to 20/month Production & 10/month Replacements....-20 for two months, but overall more per month once the next models start to roll out.

P-40....the "K" is at 65/month....change to 75/month......the "N1" is at 70/month....change to 75/month

F4F-4....leave alone...

Increase F4U-1 from 30/month to 35/month.

Details
Several Allied Fighter Squadrons get their starting numbers of aircraft bumped up as well so they begin with more planes.

While incremental, these changes should help with issues discussed within this and other Threads.

Yes. I agree. Go for it. The A2A stuff will backfill nicely. Won't be gnarly.

Ciao. JWE
